LeBasse Projects is proud to announce ‘Hakuryuu – White Dragon,’ new works by Yumiko Kayukawa. This anticipated exhibition is Kayukawa’s first solo project with LeBasse Projects after appearing in several group exhibitions. In reaction to the devastating earthquake that hit Japan in 2011, Yumiko Kayukawa explores personal coping mechanisms in the aftermath of an unforgettably painful event.

Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to announce Decay and Overgrowth, a series of new works by Southern California-based artist and 2x Juxtapoz cover artist, Jeff Soto, in what will be his fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. Expanding upon the themes explored previously in Lifecycle, Soto’s solo 2010 exhibition, works in Decay and Overgrowth deal with the passage of time, early man and life after death, as well as primitive myths and legends attempting to explain the unknown.

Mexico City-based artist, Minoz, who we documented last year as he was preparing a mural (with Meiz) has a new body of work about to open at FIFTY24MX in Mexico City, Espiralismo. Known mostly for street works, this is the first time that Minoz has shown in a gallery. The show opens on September 8, 2012.

One of our favorite artists we cover, SF-based Jason Jägel (featured in the January 2010 issue), will be showing at one of our favorite SF spots, Needles & Pens, starting on Friday, September 7. After seven years since 2x Juxtapoz cover artist Stephen Powers’ last solo exhibition in New York, Joshua Liner Gallery is pleased to present A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures. In this new exhibition series, the prolific artist will present a panoramic assemblage of paintings that will occupy the entire breadth of the gallery. A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures will consist of a multitude of enamel on aluminum paintings, ranging from 10-x-8 inches to 8-x-16 feet. The show opens tonight, September 6, 2012.
