We just received a summer update from Power House, whom we raised money for during our 2009 15th Anniversary Benefit and Auction. This Fall we are sending artists [Richard Colman, Rene Almanza, Saelee Oh, Retna, Monica Canilao...] to Detroit to help paint, organize, and build in the neighborhood, and Power House has spent the past 6 months buying homes, and prepping the entire ongoing project.   Read More...

Power House Project's Mitch and Gina, the group that Juxtapoz' 15th Anniversary Auction benefited and is in the midst of a major Juxtapoz collaboration on the ground in Detroit, are having an exhibition under their Design 99 name at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, called Too Much of a Good Thing.   Power House Project's Mitch and Gina, the group that Juxtapoz' 15th Anniversary Auction benefited and is in the midst of a major Juxtapoz collaboration on the ground in Detroit, are having an exhibition under their Design 99 name at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, called Too Much of a Good Thing. I read on Core77.com that "Over the past few months, they've developed the Neighborhood Machine, a repurposed, freshly-painted Bobcat, extending the concept of the Power House. Part-sculpture, part-community tool, the vehicle can be hooked to a series of "project trailers," each specific to a task performed in the neighborhood: collecting found material, gardening (Design99 maintain a tree nursery in an empty lot), power generation with photovoltaics, and, of course, moving stuff around."     Read more about the exhibit here.
