These entertaining drawings are the work of Portugal-based Mariana Santos. Known as 'Mariana, a miserável' (the miserable one), she is the Director of Illustration at JUP and is currently taking a Master in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects at FBAUP.  

Remember, this is the guy who ballpoint penned his way to that red-headed girl portrait that was the craze on our site and others a few weeks back. Samuel Silva is the "bored" Portugal-based attorney how does these pen works as a hobby, and well, he is really damned good at his hobby. 

Portuguese illustrator Laura Mendes' work features subjects from surreal skeletons to cute, furry animals. She mixes good ol' fashion pen and ink with digital manipulation to create her detailed images. Currently residing in Porto, Laura also works as a 2D animator and designer.  

Lara Mendes' fine linework is perfectly suited to her representation of what seems to be a favorite subject - hair. We like this small series of freehand black and white illustrations done on a Wacom tablet. Mendes is an illustrator, designer and 2D animator from Porto, Portugal.

Perhaps the filter on these photos by Patrícia Almeida make these even more eye-catching, but we are showing you this because we think its a great idea for a public art project. In the town of Águeda, Portugal, colorful umbrellas are hung over promenades, giving your walk an interesting hue and something quite lovely to gaze up at.

Zé Burnay is a Portuguese illustrator currently studying graphic design. He brings us to a world of wild monsters & demons who fill the pages of zines and gallery walls. Burnay is also a self proclaimed demon slayer, and we hope he is around if we ever run into some of his creatures.

Every year the Fiesa International Sand Sculpture Festival takes place in Pêra, Algarve, Portugal bringing together the most talented sculptures from around the world to build a city-like installation. Using thirty-five thousand tons of sand to build with, the theme is ever changing ranging from Hollywood, discoveries, living world, and animal kingdom.

Portguese artist Márcio Martins uses a strong comibination of digital techniques, illustration, and graphic design to create some anatomical works, photo manipulations, and poster art pieces. Martins' choices of colors are also spot on...

Phlegm has been keeping busy through the sunny summer days and painting away. He just released a new handmade book we posted about yesterday and now another massive wall pops up that he recently painted in Azores, Portugal.

London's Sickboy has a solo exhibition, Burning Desire, at Montana Shop & Gallery Lisbon at the moment, curated by Yellow Pants Gallery, also in Lisbon.
