Derrick Adams has multiple things going on. One is making these fantastic mixed media portraits that use flattened patterns to create a figurative image, combining geometry and a variety of tones to form  the illusion of profiled head.

Serena Cole was born to Californian suburban parents who lost their love for each other as soon as the pool was built on the honeymoon home. Afterward, her mother married a man because he looked like Tom Selleck, who lived on the top of mountain. Forced to leave the roller-skatable sidewalks of San Jose, at age nine she found herself living off-the-grid in the Sierra Nevadas and spent the rest of her childhood looking for the mall....

Przemyslaw Aero Walkowiak is a Polish tattoo artist who creates very realistic work. His portfolio is filled with highly detailed portraits from those of basketball players to gory creatures.  

Self taught illustrator Rudy-Jan Faber from the Netherlands covers his female figures in tattoos. He work involves bright and colourful themes with some urban, pop-art, lowbrow influences. Up until his teenage years, he primarily illustrated men but then switched to women, which he says is now the main focus of his work.

Alison Blickle says her work is about "attaining unattainable experiences and connection." She paints sensual women by combining classical painting techniques with elements from landscapes. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Working out of Spain, Mercedes deBellard illustrates the portraits of some pretty cool looking ladies with blended pencil and watercolors. She brings feminine touches into her work through splashes of pastels and floral elements. These are the type of girls we want to hang around.

Chile-born Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo uses an even mix of digitally and hand crafted marks to create his illustrations and portraiture work. His vivid illustrations and collages of faces range from being precise and realistic to eerily abstracted layers of line and color. The addition of the watercolour textures he uses in some of his more collaged pieces adds another level of depth and complexity to his already intricate work.

Friday morning means we are keeping things light, and what better than having you play a little guessing game. London-based freelance designer and illustrator Dale Edwin Murray has created this great series of 14 different hip hop artist heads, 13 of which we knew immediately. Can you guess all 14 in one sweep?

We don't think we have ever seen anything like this; Natalie Irish paints portraits using her lips with lipstick as her materials. Translation: she puts on lipstick, and then kisses the canvas to create portraits.

T-Radya creates portraits of Russian WWII soldiers by creating faces from bandages on wooden boards and then burns them to create this very discarded, aged form of street art. It doesn't make sense completely until you see the portraits put onto walls, and in this case, placed on an old WWII hospital in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
