Portland illustrators Timothy Karpinski and Brooke Weeber just opened their newest show "The Day We Saw the Sun Come Up" at Compound Gallery. Their brightly colored, graphic illustrations (and installations) feel both nostalgic and immersive, and we wish we were in Portland to see the show in person! But for now, we have a few pictures to whet your palette.

As we noted on the site the other day, tonight, Friday, November 9, Portland-based fine artist, Josh Keyes, opens a new solo show, The Circus and The Sea, at Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. Today we have a nice preview, as well as noting that Mr Keyes will release a new print, Exodus I, available only to walk in's to the gallery starting at 5pm on November 9th.

Custom cars, tattoo contests, inked babes and beauties and array of your favorite artists will be at the Portland Expo Center for this yearly event.

Antler Gallery is proud to present 'Magic of the Woods' by Hannah Stouffer. The San Francisco-based artist is set to open her latest series, a collection of fantastical landscape paintings, on August 30th as part of the Last Thursday event in the Alberta Arts District. Stouffer has worked with a wide array of high profile commercial clients while simultaneously advancing her fine-art career with gallery shows and installations at many prestigious galleries throughout the US.

Alex Pardee is curating our October 2012 Halloween issue. Dave Correia is an artist you are going to see interviewed in said issue. Dave has a show opening tonight, August 2, at FIFTY24PDX in Portland. Alex tells us, "Contrary to what might hunt you down in your nightmares after seeing some of his work, Zerofriends' own Dave Correia isn't a scary dude. Photographer Brandon Fernandez has captured some seriously striking nude portraits. This new body of work was shot entirely using the wet plate collodion process making the photos both intense and nostalgic. Brandon earned his MFA at Mills College and is currently based in Portland.

Februrary 2010 cover artist, Josh Keyes, always garners attention when releasing a new body of work or print, and on Monday, July 16th at 11AM PST, Keyes will release his new print, Sirens. The print will be signed and numbered in an edition of 150 on archival Giclee on Optima One 100% cotton paper (300 gsm weight, sized at 18"x24" with deckled edges. What we like in particular is Keyes' posting process pics for the image on his blog this past week.

Former SF and Portland based artist, Chris Johanson, has again organized the Quiet Music Festival of Portland, a celebration of quiet music as well as the act of quiet listening. The two-day music event opens on Friday, June 15 and runs through Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Portland's local arts and cultural organization Disjecta.

Art is Forever is a project by cultural creative, Jason Sturgill, which attempts to foster a more meaningful connection between the art museum and its visitors.
