This morning we take a look at a series of photographs by Berlin-based, New York City-born photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz. Memory Loss was captured throughout the United States and "explores the social identification and how our ideas of self representation create instances of cultural disconnect."

This series of photographs by Ivan Forde represent the process that the reader's mind goes through when reading Milton's Paradise Lost. While attending SUNY Purchase College for literature, Ivan merged literature and photography to critique poetry. The result is this fascinating series of 8 photos titled Transformation. "The act of reading the poem invites readers to put themselves under the cold eyes of self-examination...The sight of our imperfections stimulates Transformation, resulting in a non-duelist view of all our parts - accepting the process between good and evil."

Another Ricky Powell event just opened, in perfect timing with his feature in our Beastie Boys issue that is on newsstands now. David Kesting Presents "Ricky Powell", a collection of photographs from the artists archives reflecting the urban artistic and music references between these two times and cultures. Curated by Tono Radvany a longtime friend of Powell known for cataloging, exhibiting and printing Powell’s work.

Bernhard Handick is a young German artist and art-director of Shoutout-Magazine who is currently studying at The Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. With a German father and a mother from Sri-Lanka, Handick grew up in a multi-cultural environment, which heavily influenced the breadth of his artistic interests. He approaches his photography in a sculptural manner, looking at the three-dimensionality of his images in terms of their compositional resonance, visual musicality, and tactile appeal. 

Singapore-based photographer Jared Lim has a fantastic eye for architectural patterns and geometry. The series, entitled Urban Exploration, consists of photos he took while travelling to major cities and have been inspired by a love for geometry that his has since he was a kid.

Juxtapoz contributing editor, Joey Garfield, who recently edited our Beastie Boys issue, will be opening a solo show, The Sound of Never, at SILO Art Space in Chcago tomorrow night, May 18. The works in the show are both sculptural, photography-based, and collage. If you are in Chicago, go see our man on the scene!!!

Beijing-based photographer Ren Hang's images are uncensored, erotic, dirty, raw, somewhat deranged... you get the point. His work is censored in China but he has a growling list of international shows. He's pretty badass and doesn't seem to have a limit, and the images we chose are even toned down a bit compared to some of the others on his website which you should check out. They cast light on an otherwise shadowy Chinese underground youth culture, where lust and indulgence run as rampant as anywhere else in the world

Indonesian photographer Hengki Koentjoro has been hooked on taking photos since he received a pocket camera for his birthday when he was a kid. He went on to study at the Brooks Institute of Photography and heavily influenced by Ansel Adams, Hengki went on to document the oceans surrounding Indonesia’s 13,000 islands in a dark, mysterious black and white. He says, "With the Zone System by Ansel Adams, you are in the practice of seeing things around you in monochrome or learning to see in black and white."

This weekend in NYC, Ricky Powell (and Craig Wetherby) will have his iconic street photos remixed and reworked by Ryan Keeley at an exhibition with ArtNowNy, Frank's Chop Shop, and the Good Life. Of course, Ricky is featured often in our Beastie Boys issue on newsstands now, and we wanted to take this time not only to honor Ricky's classic photography but get the word out on his new show. So, let's get a look... 

Reka Nyari was born in 1979 to a Finnish mother and Hungar
ian father, she started painting even before she could walk or talk. This led her to New York to study painting at SVA at the age of 17. Her love for photography started when she began modeling after graduating from school and traveling and working in Asia and Europe. Reka moved back to NYC in 2004 and shoots fashion editorials, campaigns, CD covers, artistic portraits and erotic photography. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in the US and Europe.
