The Death of Youth, Times Three

Erotica // Friday, May 10, 2013
I can't think of many things that are sexier or more intriguing than three nude babes, in a casual and playful setting, doing what they do best. Combine that with the talents of an equally casual photographer and you're making magic. This set of black and white, stills and poloroids from Giovanni Lipari captures this intimacy perfectly in his series, The Death of Youth.

We are really enjoying the photographs of New Jersey-based photographer Robin Schwartz this morning. Schwartz, as you probably gathered from her photos, is an animal person and her daughter has been the subject of her body of work stretching over eleven years. Schwartz is a professor of photography at William Paterson University.

Photographs by Ruben Brulat

Juxtapoz // Friday, May 10, 2013
Photographer Ruben Brulat has traveled via land only, through Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Japan and Mongolia for his latest series entitled Paths. "The bodies of people become friends, performing - not without difficulties - leaving wounds, marks, and souvenirs from a time before heading towards different paths, (after sharing one for a while). The Bodies of these people become a part of the accidental and dramatic landscapes, like the trees, the rocks or the black sands of gunung bromo."

JR pastes Rikers Island Jail

Street Art // Thursday, May 09, 2013
As if being in jail and being watched every moment was not enough, artist JR has made sure that the almighty eye will be watching over you. Invited to install work at Rikers Island in New York, JR took photographs of inmate’s eyes and pasted them in three different locations around the complex. The artist spoke on this project saying, “We just pasted the eye of another Inmate on the 2 South Building of the Rikers Island Jail in New York City. He wanted me to choose his eye looking left as life in jail is all about watching your back... He came out in the jail Yard when we were pasting. He's 18years old, it's his second time in Jail. Even if no one will recognize his eye he knows he's part of a bigger picture.”

This past weekend we stopped by HVW8 Art for the private reception for “15 Years Of Gonz and Adidas,” a photo exhibition celebrating Mark Gonzales’ 15 years with the adidas Skateboarding family. As you may know, the man they lovingly call the "Gonz" has been a good friend of the Juxtapoz, Thrasher, and High Speed family for years, and we are so happy to see this show come to fruition. Photos and more after the jump…
