Working with a new hybrid animal character debuting a few weeks back, Sheffield-based muralist and illustrator, Phlegm, has brought it out again, this time panting three. With a bird beak, rat-like tail and lengthy stick legs and arms, these creepy figures will have no trouble in courting attention from people passing by in London.

Sheffield-based muralist and illustrator, Phlegm, experimented with a new character over the weekend that has lengthy legs and arms, a bird beak, and a rat-like tail. We don’t really know what it exactly is, but we like the what we are seeing.

Using Indian Car paints, Phlegm painted two of his signature characters carrying exotic birds with a unique caging system. This wall was painted Tangalla, Sri Lanka and is the first time in a while we have seen him incorporate color into one of his paintings.

Based on a wall that was previously painted in Turin, Italy, Sheffield-based artist, Phlegm, illustrated these two “bird globes.” Intricately detailed, with beautiful shading, these pieces show the artists signature characters sleeping inside pod-like bird and owl faces. Phlegm has been working on a number of illustrations for an upcoming book project that should be released in early 2013.

The ARD*POP-UP 2012 has been underway in Oslo, Norway where multiple international artists are painting murals around the city. Phlegm came though and painted an eye-catching piece of a massive crocodile having his teeth extracted by the artist’s signature characters. Apparently the weather was harsh and Phlegm learned to paint with ski gloves. Didn’t seem to hinder his ability to produce something fantastic.

The lanky, strangely dressed characters that are distinctly the creation of UK-based illustrator and street art, Phlegm, are always on the move. The artist’s recent rendition of one riding a bike is a pleasing simplistic image.

Sheffield, UK-based illustrator and muralist, Phlegm, painted a massive trumpet with one his characters perched on the edge shooting arrows. Balloon tied skulls and bones are seen floating on the wall, with a pile remains on the floor. This new mural was painted in Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Painting in the neighboring town of Doncaster, 20 miles from his hometown of Sheffield, Phlegm is midway through a large mural that apparently lacks funding for a lift. As you can see from this picture, the artist is using rock-climbing gear to get the job done. Whatever it takes, right? Completed photos of this mural to come.
