We spent the weekend enjoying the visuals that have been projected behind the performances of Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich as they "DJ/perform" in support of the new LP, AMOK, by their group Atoms For Peace. As was the video for "Judge, Jury, Executioner," visual artist Tarik Barri has been on stage with Atoms For Peace providing live visuals... and they fit the experience perfectly. Watch...

Ragnar Kjartansson x The National "A Lot of Sorrow" @ MoMA PS1, Long Island City http://www.juxtapoz.com/music/ragnar-kjartansson-x-the-national-a-lot-of-sorrow-moma-ps1-long-island-city http://www.juxtapoz.com/music/ragnar-kjartansson-x-the-national-a-lot-of-sorrow-moma-ps1-long-island-city Ragnar Kjartansson x The National
Phish probably pulled off the six-hour show, and perhaps for some, it all sounded like the same song. Well, Brooklyn's The National is going to take this concept up a notch. In collaboration with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, the band will play their track "Sorrow" from the 2010 LP High Violet, for six straight, continuous hours. That's right, 360 minutes, and because the song is around 3:25, that is just a lot of "Sorrow" in a row. The artist's idea? "By stretching a single pop song into a day-long tour de force the artist continues his explorations into the potential of repetitive performance to produce sculptural presence within sound."

Tilda Swinton is sleeping on the job, literally, @ MoMA, NYC http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/tilda-swinton-is-sleeping-on-the-job-literally-moma-nyc http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/tilda-swinton-is-sleeping-on-the-job-literally-moma-nyc Tilda Swinton is sleeping on the job, literally, @ MoMA, NYC
Have you ever had the sensation, while sleeping, that someone is staring at you? And then you wake up and its your significant other/cat/child just peeing at your eyeballs while you are just trying to get some comofortable shut-eye? Yeah, its psychotic. But apparently for Tilda Swinton, who has made a name for herself for being an oddball in a sea of people trying to be oddballs (meaning she is a better oddball then say, Anne Hathaway), she doesn't mind sleeping in front of learing eyes.  She is sleeping in front of people at MoMA in a special, randomly timed, performance piece...

Using what we can only assume are incredible amounts of strength and concentration, artist Maedir Euster from Rigolo Swiss Noveau Crique performs his Palm Rib Balance for a short film by photographer/director Tobias Hutzler. Maedir starts with a feather and slowly adds palm leaf ribs until he has balanced 13 of them on one large rib.

Alexa Meade and Sheila Vand's "Milk: what will you make of me?" http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/alexa-meade-and-sheila-vands-qmilk-what-will-you-make-of-meq http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/alexa-meade-and-sheila-vands-qmilk-what-will-you-make-of-meq Alexa Meade and Sheila Vand's
A collaboration of body painter extraordinaire Alexa Meade and performance artist Sheila Vand, involving the before-mentioned body painting work before Vand lies in a pool of milk. Both in still and video images, this is a particularly interesting collaboration, where the subject comes to life in a fluid "still-life." If that doesn't make sense, click after the jump, and see the video.

Before I’d ever met Duke, I asked my friend Danilo what he was like. “He’s sort of an action hero guy.” I asked Danilo what he meant by this. “I mean, if the world was coming to an end, I’d kinda want to be hanging out with Duke ‘cause he could probably get us out of it.”...

Not quite sure why everytime we see a group of people in dark clothing and masks we immediately think Eyes Wide Shut, and the fantastic, mass-oriented, fine art photography of Claudia Rogge does just that to us. The German photographer shoot individual subjects, and then digitally arranges them to create a sense of mass participation and performance.

Paintings by Jen Ray http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/paintings-by-jen-ray http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/paintings-by-jen-ray Paintings by Jen Ray
A fantastic series of incredibly detailed scenes from fine artist, Jen Ray. The work seems to channel some sort of Rose Bowl Parade about 1,000 years in the future. The Raleigh, North Carolina-born fine artist is represented by Wentrup Gallery in Berlin, and has taken the concepts of these paintings and transformed them into performance pieces.
