Parra "Kind Regrets" @ HVW8, Los Angeles

Juxtapoz // Friday, September 21, 2012
We have had a chance to see a bunch of Dutch artist Parra in California this year. First, it was his massive mural and first US museum showing at the SFMOMA that was outstanding, and now, he is back on the West Coast. He will open a new series of works, Kind Regrets, at HVW8 Gallery, featuring acrylic on canvas works and pen on paper.

Parra x Kidrobot "Pierced" Vinyl sculpture

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, May 22, 2012
“As he pierces her with brutal force” is no understatement with Dutch artist Parra’s depiction of a harsh necking in his first collaboration with pop art brand Kidrobot. The 10-inch vinyl sculpture is a dramatization of eroticism and dominance, with beaked creatures pecking away at each other in a menagerie gloss and matte. The forceful embrace is an ode to romance novel covers that even Fabio might be turned on by depending on what angle he views it from.

Parra x Toykyo: 'Jean Pierre Le Douche' porcelain sculpture

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 16, 2012
We had a great time with Amsterdam's Parra when he was in San Francisco preparing his mural installation at the SFMOMA, and we just caught wind of a new porcelain sculpture he is releasing with Belgium's Toykyo, the Jean Pierre Le Douche. The white glazed and black dotted porcelain sculpture, with gold color eyes, is made in a limited edition of 25 and sits at nearly 18" tall.

Feature: In Conversation with Parra

Juxtapoz // Monday, April 02, 2012
Last week, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art opened the new mural installation, Weirded Out, created site-specifically by Amsterdam artist, Parra. We caught up with Parra as the artist was finishing up the mural that stands on the museum's second landing, and discussed how his work has evolved since his March 2008 cover, working in black and white, and his first visit to SF.
