Horfe, January 2012 http://www.juxtapoz.com/vault/horfe-january-2012 http://www.juxtapoz.com/vault/horfe-january-2012 Horfe, January 2012
This weekend in NYC, one of our favorite graffiti artists, Horfe, will be joining others in a group show at Klughaus Gallery. One of the reasons we have always admired the works of the Parisian artist is his mixture of classic animation and illustration to a public medium, creating a unique and prolific body of work on the streets. Here is our interview with the artist from January 2012.

Les Bains-Douches was built in 1885 as a municipal bathouse and eventually became one of the most popular nightclubs in Paris, a favourite of Mick Jagger, Kate Moss, Johnny Depp, and Andy Warhol. The building was declared a safety hazard in 2010 and closed. Since it's closure, the building's owners have invited 50 street artists to decorate the interior.

'Villes Eteintes,' Darkened Cities by Thierry Cohen http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/villes-eteintes-darkened-cities-by-thierry-cohen http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/villes-eteintes-darkened-cities-by-thierry-cohen 'Villes Eteintes,' Darkened Cities by Thierry Cohen
Paris-born artist Thierry Cohen's series Villes Eteintes depicts major cities of the world with no light pollution, no lights of any kind. Thierry employs a technique that requires him to document the exact time, angle, latitude and longitude of each exposure and then track the rotation of the earth to locations with clear night skies such as the Mojave, Sahara, and Atacama deserts. By combining the two images, the photographer has produced a truly profound work that asks us to reflect both spiritually and politically.
