This morning we take a look Victoria Selbach's nudes. Victoria uses light and shadow to as an underlying abstraction to what the mind is tuned to see: the woman and human form. The light moving throughout many of her paintings only partially reveals what is present and creates the architecture of each piece.

On this International Picnic Day (woohoo) we bring you Till Rabus' homage to Salvador Dali, Surrealist Camping Lunch. It's not the first time we have posted the Swiss artists work, often balancing somewhere between myth and surrealism, he combines the strange with the ordinary!

We are enjoying the paintings of artist Emily Burns this morning. Emily is based out of LEmont, Pennsylvania and NYC!

New York-based artist Suzanne Berry is a mostly self-taught artist who paints large realistic-looking bugs on canvases up to 24x36 inches. The large format of her painting allows viewers to see the detail with which she paints the crawly creatures.

Born in 1932, Nakamura Hiroshi was trained by the Japan Art Alliance as a reportage painter. The Alliance was 'a postwar art group that advocated politically-themed realist painting.' By the 50s, Hiroshi was very involved in depicting protests against the rise of U.S. military bases. He saw himself as a 'reporter at the frontlines' of confrontations, brandishing sketchbook and pencil as opposed to a camera.

  We have posted the work of the very talented Bristol-based Illustrator and Painter China Mike before. These days he is feeling less pressure to create realistically defined images, instead wanting there to be a playfulness in his work and to not get bogged down with mechanical routines.

Bay area artist, Lindsey Kustusch, is having her second solo show this month at STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco. Over 35 pieces of new work, including dozens of SF street scenes interlaced with nature's most domineering survivors, the Raven and Owl.

This morning we take another look at Matt Rota, an award-winning illustrator based in New York and an instructor at institutions that include the School of Visual Arts and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Matt paints almost exclusively in watercolor, creating complex and engaging narrative landscapes.
