We are all recovering from a long but memorable three days in Golden Gate Park at Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival where, for the fourth year in a row, curated art throughout the park in addition to Mike Shine and the Dr. Flotsam's Hell Brew Revue carnival set-up in the woods. We also caught performances by Kanye West, Artic Monkeys, Spoon, Tegan & Sara, Haim, The Flaming Lips, The Killers, and many more! Check out this photo recap of this year's music and musicians...

As you know, we are once again heading to the Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in SF this weekend (August 8-10, 2014), and while most people are getting ready for Kanye, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Petty, Lykke Li, Death Cab, or The Flaming Lips, there are a few bands of note playing in the afternoons that we are the most excited about. Woods would be one of those bands. They have always kept the DIY aesthetic true to their hearts, and we love their new video for "New Light" animated by John Andrews. Go see them on Sunday, August 10 at 1:10pm on the Sutro Stage. And get their new LP, With Light And With Love.

If you have been to Outside Lands the last 3 years, you know that Mike Shine's "Dr Flotsam" stage and performance art portion is a major highlight of the festival. Juxtapoz and the Shine crew are back at it in 2014, and we have some previews of the bands that are going to be playing at the Dr. Flotsam’s Hell Brew Revue Stage all weekend long. Let's listen in.

We are very excited to announce our participation and curation at the 2014 Outside Lands Music & Art Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, August 8—10, 2014. This year, we have brought back the great Mike Shine and the Dr. Flotsam's Hell Brew Revue stage, full of performance art, a great iist of bands, and full carnival set-up in the woods. So in-between sets by Kanye West, Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, Tegan & Sara, and hundreds more, we will have live-painting, art adorning the stages, and installations throughout the park to experience.

Our good friend and March 2013 cover artist Mike Shine has been busy in Northern California over the past year, culminating in a full-on performance and exhibition of the Hell Brewers at Art Works in San Rafael, California this past March. Shine passed along a few images to us last week, and because he and the Hell Brewers will be performing and curating a special artzone at Outside Lands 2014 this August with Juxtapoz in San Francisco, we are getting ourselves in the mood today.

We have shown you a bunch of footage from our time and curation at the 2013 Outside Lands Music & Art Festival held in San Francisco in early August, but today we have a more things to showcase. One, contributing photographer Chloe Rice took a bunch of beautiful photos of the various sights, styles, and artists working at the festival with the Juxtapoz team. And second, Skinner provides us a guideline of how to attend a music festival. A speech for all festivals....

Juxtapoz is on the ground at the annual Outside Lands Music and Art Festival held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park each August (and that would be Aug 9-11 this year), and again for the third year, we have curated the art portion of the event. This year, we have Mike Shine, Dennis McNett, and Camille Rose Garcia created site-specific installations, but of course, there is a ton of music, and today we are showcasing some of the best music that we might be seeing today... let's gander...

As we have the past two years, Juxtapoz is back at San Francisco's major music and art festival, Outside Lands, curating the visual art that you will see around Golden Gate Park from August 9-11, 2013. This year, we have added a few surprises to our line-up, as well as created a few new products at our tent...

'Tis the season. No, we don't mean holiday cheer, we mean the Political Season, a time of undecideds, debates, and campaign trails. Juxtapoz is in a similar mood, and we brought legendary fine artist and political satirist Ron English to our November 2012 issue to have him curate our special examination of Politics & Art in 2012.

As part of our Outside Lands 2012 art curation, there was the separate, bootlegged festival in the woods, the Dr Flotsams' Hell Brew Revue, created and produced by Mike Shine and his team. With folk and bluegrass bands playing all throughout the weekend, and the surrounding Flotsam carnival and revival performances, John Butler and Colin Day captured the mood of the Flotsam performance in this picture essay. Sit back, enjoy.
