On Friday night, we stopped by the opening of famed Japanese artist and Juxtapoz cover artist, Yoshitomo Nara's newest body of work at Pace Gallery. Featuring his iconic girl characters, presented in sculpture, painting, and sketches, all spaced wonderfully in three large rooms, Nara continues to be one of the most appreciated contemporary artist in the world.

This past weekend Mark Mulroney opened his newest solo show "A Fertile Menace" at San Francisco's own Ever Gold Gallery and Juxtapoz was there to catch it. Mulroney expands his wonderful, twisted universe across an impressive range of new paintings, collages and sculptures in which childlike naiveté and vibrant comic elements become both counterpoints to and the vocabulary for scenes of sex, violence and decay...

Let's face it. Chances are you didin't make it to Tokyo for the opening of KAWS' new exhibition, Ohhh..., at Murakami's Kaikai Kiki space. It opened tonight, but in Tokyo time, that means its already open. So, if you didn't make it, we have a little into some of the works that are on exhibit, and as you can see, they are some of the cleanest, bold acrylic works you will ever see. 

Juxtapoz' London contributor, Butterfly, made it over to The Outsiders space for the opening of Pete Hawkins' new exhibition, Behind Closed Doors. From the gallery, "Behind Closed Doors takes Pete's process of painting on found materials forward another step: it features miniature modern fables on antique doors."

Our friend Henrik Haven stopped by the new Clare Rojas exhibition at Galleri Nicolai Wallner in Copenhagen this past weekend. As we have seen in a past exhibition at PRISM in Los Angeles, the San Francisco-based artist has moved away from her more figurative folk works into more abstract, minimalist explorations in color and shape.

We are in NYC right now for the opening of Kenny Scharf's Kolors at Paul Kasmin Gallery, tonight April 4. (We haven't mentioned this yet, but Kenny's the cover artist for the new May 2013 issue). He wil unveil a new body of work plus a series of sculpture works.

This past weekend we stopped by one of our favorite galleries, THIS Los Angeles to check out their second to last exhibition, “No Pressure” new works by Travis Millard. Travis is the CEO and grand marshall of Fudge Factory Comics and runs it out of his home on an almost lost hillside in the Echo Park neighborhood of LA. Photos and more after the jump…

This past weekend in San Francisco, March 2013 cover artist (and often Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands collaborator) Mike Shine opened a performance/installation/exhibition at White Walls Gallery, Flotsam's Harvest. With full musical and dance accompaniment, surrounded by a massive body of work that describes and alludes to the great riddle and poem of one Dr Flotsam, the show was fully appreciated with some of Flotsam's hell brew. Or Jameson. Not sure. 

Eli Ridgway Gallery is pleased to present Cuts and Splits, the gallery's second solo exhibition of Bay Area artist Christopher Taggart. Presenting hyper intricate composites of dissected and recombined imagery - (originally personal photographs, playing cards, and government compiled archival data) - Cuts and Splits functions as an investigation into the intensive process of ordering and reordering traditional systems of visual organization.

Last Saturday night, as Manhattan was in full swing of all things Armory Show, Dennis McNett and the Wolfbat team put together a full music, installation, performance, and fine art party at House of Vans in Brooklyn.
