We made it out to NYC this past Thursday for the opening of "For the Kids," a retrospective of the 1980's sports poster art body of work from Seattle's Costacos Brothers. We got to spend the afternoon on a Lower East Side basketball court with the Brothers, and headed over to the packed opening.

While most of the Juxtapoz staff was back in NYC last night, a few of the team stayed back and headed to the very special Margaret Kilgallen retrospective, Summer/Selections, at Ratio 3 in San Francisco. It was a packed house, everyone honored to see the late artists breathtaking work.

Tonight in San Francisco, Linear Empires opens featuring new work from Augustine Kofie, Geoff Campen, Diana Ruiz, Mary Iverson, Richard Pearse, Moneyless, Brendan Monroe and Gregory Ito. The work ranges in various mediums exploring the use of lines, symmetry, and geometry with an emphasis on design. We stopped by yesterday to give you this preview of the show. The people of Known Gallery just sent us a few more opening night shots from the Steve and Alex Olson Boom Boom opening. A few more well-knowns made it out to the show, including Chloe Sevigny and Scott Caan. Everyone braved the rains and the late start, but it all looked good in the end. We previewed Marion Peck's new book, Animal Love Summer, last week, and now we have Peck's show at Sloan Fine Art in NYC, "What You Are, So Once Were We," to preview. The show will feature an amazing mixed-media installation/sculpture piece. Plenty more after the jump . . .

Tara McPherson and Xiaoqing Ding lit up New York's Chelsea art district this past Saturday evening with a show that rocked Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The two women brought their A-game with complimentary solo exhibitions that tapped into two fantastic mythological worlds filled with all kinds of adorable creatures.
