THIS Los Angeles is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by San Francisco based artists Daniel Gibson and Mike Bertino. The show will run from Aug. 31st through Sept. 21st 2012, with an opening reception on Friday, Aug. 31st from 7:00 to 10:00pm. As the artists put it, "Gold Coast is a conversation between the two of us about our experiences growing up, and living on the West Coast as adults, and specifically in California."

In case you missed out last Thursday, Ubisoft in partnership with Rock the Vote held the launch of Art of the Assassin, a traveling pop-up art exhibit in celebration of the highly anticipated video game Assassin’s Creed III. Assassin’s Creed III, on track to be the biggest launch in Ubisoft’s history, is set to release on October 30. Stay tuned here for news on upcoming Art of the Assassin events.

London-based painter Candice Tripp, we have mentioned her work on the site before (and she was in our Juxtapoz Turns 18 show), is set to open a new exhibition, Petit-Mal, at Black Rat Projects in London on Thursday, July 26. Right before the Olympics kick off, you can go check out some of these creepy works by the Cape Town born artist.

This past Friday the 13th, bad luck was celebrated at Neck Face’s Simply The Worst opening at New Image Gallery in Los Angeles, Calif. Art collectors, graffiti enthusiasts, and the elite of skateboarding showed up to support Neckface. The respect is mutual, as Neck Face says, "Those are my people, they know who I am and I know who they are. We all come from the gutter."

This weekend we stopped by the opening of Laurie Lipton's LA Sous-Real, her new exhibition at Los Angeles' Ace Gallery. The exhibition featured a huge selection of Lipton's works from the past half-decade, an impressively rendered set of large-scale graphite and pencial works on paper.

Seems quite appropriate for Friday the 13th. September 2011 cover artist, Neck Face, is opening a new print release show, Simply the Worst, at New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles. Costumes accepted, and free booze. And a message from Neck Face: "If I'm throwing it you know it's gonna be fun." Ah, it's one of those kind of parties... dig it.

Lisbon-based, London-residing artist, Vhils, newest solo exhibition entitled “Entropy” opened last weekend at Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris. Expanding his practice, his new body of work explores portraits in a variety of techniques such as carved Styrofoam and wood, acid etched metal, laser cut posters, and ink and bleach on paper.

This Friday, Glasgow-based David Shrigley's comprehensive survey exhibition "Brain Activity" travels across the Atlantic for the artist's first West Coast museum show at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Shrigley matches acerbic wit with existential commentary and dystopian themes. The exhibit runs from June 22 - September 23.
