OHWOW is pleased to announce Michael Genovese’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, titled Lines and Cracks and Zebras and Horses, presenting a recently completed body of work based on lineation, cleave, and the concept implied by the aphorism: “When you hear hoof beats behind you, don’t expect to see a zebra.” A series of plasma-cut steel wall reliefs located throughout the gallery compose a subtle arrangement based equally on materiality and concept.

Last July 2011, we did a cover story on Rebel, the experimental, multi-part art project fronted by James Franco including components by Harmony Korine, Aaron Young, Douglas Gordon, Paul McCarthy, and Ed Ruscha. After a few delays, MOCA will present Rebel this May 15, and OHWOW will publish the accompanying book.

This weekend we attended the opening of Terry Richardson’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition Terrywood at OHWOW Gallery. With a line down the block the entire night this was quite the event. Guests were greeted with the full red carpet treatment and paparazzi as they entered the gallery. Photos after the jump...
