For those of you who want a more amiable and everyday view into the life our current President of the United States, there is a flickr page that seems to be just the right spot. Obama has plenty of moments that are photogenic and lovable, many of which we have seen before, but the White House's Flickr page is a place where this is perfectly collected and arranged to catalogue snapshots of his personal life as well as his moments at work that are not so explicitly pictured in most media outlets.

In 2008, Shepard Fairey’s “Hope” poster for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign became a symbol of inspiration and optimism. Yesterday, four years later in New York, Fairey received a sentence of two years probation and a $25,000 fine in federal court for his the same poster.

In the 2008 Presidential Elections we saw how artists can have major impacts on the campaign trail to the White House. Dave Kinsey recently released a new image called UNITED in an effort to support President Obama's reelection campaign. Kinsey explains "I feel this is one of the most important votes U.S. citizens will ever make, ultimately affecting everything from our environment and social structure to worldwide issues (to name a few things)."

One of the time-honored American traditions that we can all agree is both unnerving and kind of an entertaining spectacle is the Presidential Campaign tour. Republicans, Democrats, all lying in unison, all promising things that are unrealistic, so much fun to get worked up by it all! And, as we saw so clearly in 2008, the campaign poster is an incredibly powerful tool in getting a viral message across. Do you remember John McCain's campaign poster? John who?

We love it when we find kindered spirits of pop-culture debauchery and current affairs humor. Riding sharks, Obama on corgis, Olympic crashes, old WWF matches with Hulk Hogan, Conrad Ruiz jumps around cultural icons with watercolors on large format paper. He even created a San Francisco-themed "disasterpiece" that could be the world's biggest watercolor painting. Great works all around.
