Our good friend and contributor Henrik Haven just sent some teaser shots of Nychos's new works in Denmark for the Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival. Nychos, Horfee, Blade and John Howard were all doing new works this past week in the small Danish town, and it looks like a school got a touch of the Weird. Summer is here, and the European continent is getting new public works!

Blood Thirsty Snake painted by Nychos in Italy

Street Art // Thursday, April 25, 2013
While in Italy for his solo exhibition “Pellis Os Omentum” at Galo Art Gallery, Nychos squeezed in some extra time to paint this huge, very menacing-looking, semi-dissected snake. There is impressive detail painted using a spray can on this serpent, with fierce fangs ready to bite down and taste blood from its prey. And of course, a human skeleton is inside the stomach, which is common with many of the animals the artist creates.

We landed in Honolulu yesterday and hit the ground running, checking out countless murals in progress for POW WOW, an annual gathering of contemporary artists. Some of our favorite artists from the international community as well as fresh, local talent from Hawaii are currently coating walls in the Kaka’Ako neighborhood, and there are good vibes around every corner. Nothing beats painting in paradise.

Our Halloween printed issue of Juxtapoz curated by Alex Pardee features the Vienna-based illustrator and muralist, Nychos. Over the last few years Nychos has created a unique esthetic unlike most of the work created by a spray can.  Severed and separated anatomical figures are his niche. Watch this new video as the artist paints a sectioned head on the side of a freeway pillar.
