Noise Pop HQ and Juxtapoz Present: "CIDADE CINZA/GREY CITY"

Every winter in San Francisco, the city's clubs are taken over by the great Noise Pop Festival, featuring an assortment of music acts, art activities, and cultural events. This year, Real Estate, No Age, Dr Dog, Fresh & Onlys, Mikal Cronin, Vetiver, Shabazz Palaces, Sun Kil Moon, and DJ Rashad are just a few of the musical acts. On Saturday, March 1, Juxtapoz and Noise Pop will hold the SF premier of "Grey City," a documentary on São Paulo, Brazil's influential graffiti history and controversial laws.

Nunca @ Street-Art Brazil in Frankfurt, Germany

Nunca along with Herber Baglione (who we just posted about) is also in Frankfurt, Germany participating in the Street-Art Brazil Festival.  After his paparazzi themed mural in Los Angeles, the Brazilian artist headed to Frankfurt, painting a giant portrait in his well-defined style resembling traditional woodcuts

In conjunction with the Tarfest Music and Art Festival in Los Angeles, Brazilian artist, Nunca, painted a lengthy mural wrapping around a corner of the popular La Brea Street. The artists chose to paint the paparazzi as they literally corner a woman while she attempts to block their photographic attack. Obviously this is an appropriate comment on the absurd celebrity culture that exists in Los Angeles.

Merry Karnowsky Gallery, LAUNCH (producers of TARFEST), and District La Brea, closed out the District La Brea summer block party series with a live painting event Featuring some of LA's top artists : CRAOLA /  AXIS / devNgosha / Edward Walton Wilcox / Britt Ehringer + NAMAAK collective / KMNDZ  and special guest artist Nunca from Brazil. Each artist created hand painted murals on 10ft x 25ft - 300ft wide wooden barricades, which stretch out over 500  feet along the West side of La Brea Avenue between 1st and 2nd Street.

A few weeks ago, the rolldown of the 33Third graffiti supply shop on Melrose in Los Angeles got a new paint job from Nunca.  In his signature style, the San Paulo-based artist painted a severed hand with a cut off finger lying in a pool of blood.
