Late in the afternoon, Herbert Baglione, Juxtapoz and the McLauchlan crew headed out to the Obrestad Lighthouse, west of Stavanger, for the opening celebration of Lucy McLauchlan's mural on the heritage-site. In short, the experience was out of a Viking movie, with an amazing fog bank and rural environment.

Juxtapoz followed David Choe and DVS-1 into the streets of Stavanger, Norway for the public art portion of Nuart. Something sort of amazing happened. In the middle of the day, police driving by, neighbors coming out to say hi... everyone was just plain happy to see art being done in the street.

As we learn to love Stavanger, Norway and Nuart more and more, Day 3 saw many of the artists move from indoors to outdoors. Herbert Baglione, David Choe, DVS-1, and Herakut were finishing indoor walls, and Escif, Hyuro, Lucy McLauchlan, Phlegm, and Tellas were all working on city walls. And, Juxtapoz went on a fjord cruise....

Day 2 at Nuart was again a bit more set-up and preparation of the artist's rooms in advance of everyone getting out onto the streets of Stavanger for murals. Herakut, DVS-1, and Vhils starting working today, and Dan Witz, Herbert Baglione, David Choe, Tellas, Hyuro, and Escif began wrapping up their areas.

  Juxtapoz, and a few artists themselves, arrived at Nuart in Stavanger, Norway today, setting off a dash of art being created both in a special installation and around the town. We caught up with Dan Witz, Phlegm, Herbert Baglione, David Choe, Escif, Hyuro, and the Nuart organizers.

We just got into Stavanger, Norway for the 2011 Nuart Festival, and Escif has kicked off the year with the first paintings to go up around town. It is getting us excited to get out of our hotel room and check out what is going on. In fact, that is what we are going to do.

We are currently on route to Stavanger, Norway for the 2011 Nuart Festival, so we wanted to preview our excursion with the video Nuart created for their _____capitalism? project done this summer. Escif, M-City, EINE, DOLK and Hyuro all participated, and headed to the NHH Norwegian School of Economics to paint and discuss capitalism.

We are a few hours away from our European festival tour, and the good people of Nuart just sent us some great photographs of UK-based Lucy McLauchlan painting the Obrestad Lighthouse off the coast of Jaeren, which is a protected national heritage site. And Lucy has permission to paint it with her great fine art style.

Nuart 2011 Festival in Norway About to Kick Off

Nuart, hosted in the Norwegian city of Stavanger, is getting set to kick off on Ocotber 1, 2011 with artists from around the world descending upon the West Coast of the Scandinavian country. We are heading out there too, to see David Choe, Escif, Herbert Baglione, Hyuro, Dan Witz, Phlegm, and others paint on the city walls.

Eloquent Vandals: The History of Nuart Norway

As Juxtapoz is set to descend upon Stavanger, Norway for the 2011 Nuart Festival, the good people of Nuart are set to release a comprehensive history of the street art festival, Eloquent Vandals: The History of Nuart Norway. On October 1, 2011, the festival will open with a party and book launch event in Stavanger.
