Nothing says let's wake up on a Monday morning and see some weird like watching two naked bodies get all lab tested and futuristic along with the music of The Flaming Lips. "You Lust" is a track from the Lips' new LP, The Terror, is a long, winding, 13-minute epic, but thank you to Oklahoma's finest, this is along 4 minutes long. NSFW because this contains a full 4-minutes of nude bodies going all Matrix on you. 

German artist Andrea Pritschow's body of work consists of hundreds of multi-colored crocheted phalluses. Pritschow challenges the traditional formula of male artists eroticizing female bodies by taking on stereotypically 'female' craftwork to not only eroticize but domesticate masculinity and male virility. Her knit castrations use de-contexualisation and abstraction to also call into question the idea of profanity within the art context.

New Zealand's Kelly Thompson has made a few experiences on our site over the past year, but when we were looking through the new Purple Book, we caught wind of Kelly again and really enjoyed her slightly erotic, fashion-eque illustrations and fine art work. She was born in Rotorua, New Zealand and lived in Wellington for 10 years before moving to Melbourne where she is currently based.

American artist Barnaby Whitfield specializes in erotic surrealist drawings and paintings depicting both nude men and nude self-portraits of the artist himself. Born in Miami, FL, Barnaby now lives and works in New York. He is represented by Stux Gallery in New York.

On a lighter note, some carved wooden sculptures of women, in every shape and size from New York based artist Mark Mulroney (featured in July 2011). In his artist statement, he explains, “People don’t want to die, and they want to have sex.” In regards to this, Mark states, 'I think almost all art is about looking at death and trying to defy it somehow. Having sex is a way of defying death. I make work about these things because they are what interests me...

'My work has had a tendency to be a bit autobiographical. Not literally, but under the surface. My reality or state of mind at the time that the collages are made is reflected in the psychology of the work and the stories it tells. For example, the Minotaur was at one time an important personal symbol. I won’t get into the details, but it was a very difficult period of my life and I felt a strong connection and sympathy for this very tragic, and in my mind misunderstood, creature...'

We have noted this work before, but taking another look, we wanted to revisit it. Bela Borsodi was born in Vienna 1966. After studying graphic design and fine art he started to work as a photographer. In 1992, Bela moved to New York and in 1999 he focused on still life photography, which is still the main direction of his work. Bela lives and works in New York.
