Hajime Sorayama Print Show @ FIFTY24SF Gallery, SF

Erotica // Thursday, April 02, 2015
This Saturday April 4th at 7pm, Fifty24SF Gallery in association with Upper Playground presents a print show by renowned artist Hajime Sorayama. If you remember, we featured Sorayama in the print edition of Juxtapoz back in December 2014, and that feature ended with probably the most bizarre ending we have ever had in the magazine (Sorayama was asked if he wanted a drink and retorted: "Your breast milk will be fine, if you may." Priceless, bizarre, but priceless.)

The Classic Work of Bob Carlos Clarke

Erotica // Thursday, April 02, 2015
We have written about the great Bob Carlos Clarke on the site before, but the range of his work, from rock stars, to models, to fetish scenes, to overtly sexual situations, he was a true master of his craft. He was born in Cork, Ireland in 1950, and came to England in 1964 to study art and design at The West Sussex College of Art where he developed an interest in photography. He then went on to The London College of Printing, before completing his degree at the Royal College of Art in 1975.

Erotica // Wednesday, April 01, 2015
Of all the photographers that have ever been in our "Erotica" section, or even considered in other erotic publications, Ralph Gibson's elegant black and white photographs are some of our all-time favorites. His use of shadows, light, blacked-out space, and overall positioning of the nude bodies is masterful. Here is a selection of some of our favorites.

Photography // Thursday, March 26, 2015
We have for the last few months tried to figure out who created the "Nue York" series of photographs, and when researching some titles in the Taschen catalog, we came across the name: Erica Simone. And then further research came the realization that she was the one behind this great series of photographs, and we knew the concept was something we wanted to learn more about, and she had a full statement on her site. . .

Tali Lennox "Layers of Life" @ Catherine Ahnell Gallery, NYC

Juxtapoz // Thursday, March 19, 2015
This show is getting some buzz in the fashion magazine circuit, but here at Juxtapoz are really feeling these portraits by Tali Lennox that make up "Layers of Life," a new exhibition that opens at Catherine Ahnell Gallery in NYC tonight, March 19. A little background research will let you see that Tali is a British-born model, but the works stands out on its own, and growing up with creative parents like Annie Lennox and film producer Uri Fruchtman, she's got some good painterly chops.
