The Work of Chelsey Tyler Wood

Juxtapoz // Monday, January 06, 2014
Chelsey Tyler Wood’s new series of paintings and drawings place female bodies into cramped wooden crates. Her photorealistic execution not only demonstrates her commitment to craftsmanship and detail, her renderings call into question the assumed ‘realness’ of female portrait photography in the age of Photoshop.

The Work of Sarah Anne Johnson

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, November 26, 2013
Sarah Anne Johnson's much anticipated exhibition, "Wonderlust" opened just last month, exploring the sexual intimacy of the internal world. We loved the images so this morning we thought we'd take a look back at her previous series "Arctic Wonderland!"

Mark Rubenstein's "Gone By Dawn"

Erotica // Thursday, November 14, 2013
A little voyeuristic look in the world of Mark Rubenstein, who has been working on this series, "Gone By Dawn" for the past 13 years. Now the collection is a book that is available at Colette in Paris, in an edition of 100, signed and numbered. In the meantime, we are enjoying the hazy view...

Jane Radstrom's Expressive Nudes

Erotica // Monday, November 11, 2013
Jane Radstrom is a painter and designer based in Austin, TX. She lives a quiet life of cooking, eating, teaching, painting and scheming. 'I first studied drawing and painting at Watts Atelier California. The methods practiced in atelier schools are based on meticulous renaissance traditions of masterful realism. Then, I attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, earning a BFA in Illustration. Illustration is all about bringing ideas to life - it is art created to clearly convey specific meaning...

Ryan McGinley "Yearbook" @ Ratio 3, SF

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Well, you got 3 days to check this one out if you are in Northern California. Ryan McGinley has returned to Ratio 3 in San Francisco for one of our favorite installations of the year, Yearbook, featuring an entire site-specific, immersive installation of McGinley's color portraits of... well, a ton of naked men and women who would have done well at the Arcade Fire show in Brooklyn this past weekend. To be honest, all together, in all this color, the installation is quite stunning, and you have until October 26th to see it.

The Photography of Vladimir Clavijo

Erotica // Thursday, October 10, 2013
Our colleagues at Juxtapoz Latin America tuned us into the the works of Vladimir Clavijo, and we wanted to share the work on our site today. The Russian painter and photographer graduated from the Moscow Academy of Graphic Arts, and in the past has worked as a photographer in fashion and magazine advertising in Europe. Since 1999, Clavijo works on personal projects: monochrome photographs inspired by sensual symbolism, Russian ballet and fairy tales.

Eric Yahnker "EBONY & BENGHAZI" @ Ambach & Rice, Los Angeles

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, September 11, 2013
One of the most interesting, irreverent, humorous, and talented artists working in galleries today has to be Eric Yahnker, who controls a colored pencil and critique of pop culture better than anyone. The May 2011 cover artist just opened a brilliant new show, Ebony & Benghazi, at Ambach & Rice in Los Angeles, featuring both massive colored pencil works on paper, installation pieces, and apparently, a naked woman hanging out in the gallery.

Snapshots by Josiah Marroquin

Erotica // Monday, September 09, 2013
Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Josiah Marroquin is a filmmaker, graphic designer, and photographer with a signature style that combines beauty and quirk, his photographs teetering on the edge of the weird yet nonetheless replete with fashion savvy and a keen eye for gorgeous women, whether bedecked in jewels, earthy paint, or even nothing at all.

Erin M. Riley & Joe Boruchow "IN & Out" @ Paradigm Gallery, Philadelphia

Juxtapoz // Thursday, August 29, 2013
Erin M Riley creates tapestries that look like page from Instagrams oddly pre-teen "Greatest HIts" section, using the medium to show young women and modern-day subject matter that is both salacious and uncomfortably alluring. Joe Boruchow creates paper-cuts that also explore a bit of NSFW naugtiness as well as observations about American society. The two will be showing together starting August 30, 2013, at Paradigm Gallery in Philadelphia.

Porn Sex vs. Real Sex Explained With Food

Erotica // Tuesday, August 13, 2013
This amazing informational video illustrates the differences between porn sex and real sex by using food as an analogy. Using zucchinis, cilantro, nutella, hot dogs, various sliced fruits and a lightly-bondaged chicken, this video makes use of everyday accoutrements to demonstrate the difference between pornland and our own bedrooms. The result is a hilariously intelligent bit of sex-education, we'd recommend it to (almost) all age groups, especially if your own midnight romps aren't living up to the glamour of the waxed-up video world. Also, just listen to her say "hot load" a few times.
