Tali Lennox "Layers of Life" @ Catherine Ahnell Gallery, NYC

Juxtapoz // Thursday, March 19, 2015
This show is getting some buzz in the fashion magazine circuit, but here at Juxtapoz are really feeling these portraits by Tali Lennox that make up "Layers of Life," a new exhibition that opens at Catherine Ahnell Gallery in NYC tonight, March 19. A little background research will let you see that Tali is a British-born model, but the works stands out on its own, and growing up with creative parents like Annie Lennox and film producer Uri Fruchtman, she's got some good painterly chops.

Here are some of the results next to their inspirations.

In Need of a Little Summer Dreaming with Ryan McGinley

Photography // Wednesday, March 18, 2015
We have a nice history with Ryan McGinley, pairing him up with Ricky Powell back in 2007 for an interview as the NYC photographer was ascending into major superstar status. And now McGinley is quite famous, but damn, his work from the last few years is his strongest to date. Mixing experimental uses of color, nudes, nature, light, and movement, Ryan's series of works he shoots each summer are beautiful and ethereal. He makes us miss summer... so here is a reminder.

The Mysterious World of Jan Durina

Erotica // Thursday, February 26, 2015
We like the type of photography where elements seem to appear out of nothing, where characters seem to be practicing witchcraft in some black forest in another dimension. And this is where we are at with Jan Durina. We posted about the work back in 2011, and we feel like this is fairytales on acid.
