London-based artist Nick Gentry calls his latest project a 'social art project.' People mail him archaic technology that he then uses to build the base of his work. In this series of paintings, Nick has used floppy disks! Remember those?

We have featured Nick Gentry on the site before, interviewed him as well, and today we just saw a video the UK artist just posted, XChange. Gentry, who takes used floppy disks and creates portraits from them, has compiled a video montage of some of the details that go into his portrait work.

We interviewed Nick Gentry earlier this year on the website, and we kept seeing more and more of the London-based artist's work pop-up around the web and in person, so we wanted to visit some of his newer retired floppy disks to portrait work. Our Helen Soteriou sat down with the floppy disk artist, Nick Gentry, whose work is currently on display in Barcelona at Le Pan. As mentioned in his mission statement, "[Gentry's] portraits use a combination of obsolete media formats, making a comment on waste culture, life cycles and identity." Interview after the jump . . .
