New Zealand's Kelly Thompson has made a few experiences on our site over the past year, but when we were looking through the new Purple Book, we caught wind of Kelly again and really enjoyed her slightly erotic, fashion-eque illustrations and fine art work. She was born in Rotorua, New Zealand and lived in Wellington for 10 years before moving to Melbourne where she is currently based.

The surrealist work of Auckland-based college artist, Peter Madden, is just incredible. Using old magazines and other materials, Madden has been able to carefully construct a two-dimensional frame work that is bursting at the seams with energy and vibrance. Each collage gives a spirited look at the world around us and is crammed with fantastical imagery.

Mysterious, ghastly shadows and duplicated image reflections make up this series of illustrator and designer Rishab Gladiator's work. As a young, New Zealand-based creative, he has come a long way developing the mature content in his portfolio site. He is certainly one to keep your eye on for future endeavors.

If you film it in your country, you get the creepy airport installation/sculpture. At the Wellington Airport in New Zealand, a 2,645 pounds,9.8 foot high and 43 foot long sculpture of Gollum is now reaching over you as you wait and eat before your flight. Done in conjunction with the release of The Hobbit (in theaters on December 14), the piece was created by the Weta Workshop.

Mike Hewson, a New Zealand based artist, created a fantastic public art installation on the sides of buildings in the town of Christchurch that had been destroyed in an earthquake in 2011. What makes the project so special is Hewson's use of 3D style and photoreal works that make the buildings appear as if they are alive and operating as they were before. 

Andrew Archer is a young illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand. He started early to draw and paint, then he was formed on computer to continue his art. He draws his inspiration from surrealism, cartoons, ideograms, wood block prints, edo period art, travel, and Asia. His agency work has allowed him to work for major brands...

Adam Craft works out of The Tattooed Heart in Auckland, New Zealand. His work is a mixture of traditional Japanese and American pieces and is well worth checking out.

One of New Zealand’s most talented graffiti writers, Askew, is currently in sunny Los Angeles and cranked out this fantastic new wall titled ‘“Under The Influence.”
