We last took a look at the paintings of New York-based artist Eric White back in 2011. We feel the time has come to take another look through his past and more recent work! Eric's work is realism tinged with the surreal and occasional eroticism. His palette and imagery seems to come straight from somewhere between a Hitchcock film, the Twilight Zone, and a 1980s living room. Many of his paintings are also titled and based off scenes from old movies...  

This series of photographs by Ivan Forde represent the process that the reader's mind goes through when reading Milton's Paradise Lost. While attending SUNY Purchase College for literature, Ivan merged literature and photography to critique poetry. The result is this fascinating series of 8 photos titled Transformation. "The act of reading the poem invites readers to put themselves under the cold eyes of self-examination...The sight of our imperfections stimulates Transformation, resulting in a non-duelist view of all our parts - accepting the process between good and evil."

Sheryo and The Yok have taken their illustrative style combined eastern and western elements to hand painted vases. Rending Chinese dragos, pipes, geishas, and New York culture, the duo portray vaules of ideology, devotion, relationships, dharma and karma. Opening last night at Krause Gallery, their show "Pipe Dreams" will be on display through June 16th.

We are enjoying the work of New York-based artist Kymia Nawabi this morning. Nawabi is a first-generation Iranian-American artist who describes her work as "an allegory of human behavior" and weaves a fantastical personal mythology together with "adopted gods, mythological creatures and burial ceremonies from different cultures."

We are excited and can't wait to see this new feature-length documentary by Cheryl Dunn that chronicles pioneering photographers making their mark on the streets of New York. From Magnum veteran's Bruce Davidson (featured in our June issue) and Elliot Erwitt to Ricky Powell (also in our June issue), Boogie and Jamel Shabazz, "Everybody Street" illuminates the lives and work of New York’s iconic street photographers and the incomparable city that has inspired them for decades.

This morning we take a look at the work of Ohio-born, New York-based artist Daniel Arsham. Through sculpture, drawing and performance, Arsham challenges our perceptions of physical space in order to make architecture perform the improbable. 

Random International, known for it's distinctive digital-based contemporary art, has installed a 'Rain Room' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The installation invites visitors to experience the control of rain and explore the roles that science, technology, and human ingenuity can play in stabilizing our technology. The room is basically a choreographed downpour and encourages visitors to move in and out of it.

We have posted the work of New York-based artist Marilyn Minter before. Her photographs and paintings often contain lush and vibrant sexuality erotic imagery. She is back with a series of enamel on aluminum paintings.

If you were to walk the streets of Manhattan or Brooklyn today, as in right now, it wouldn’t take long until you spotted an Easy tag in the same signature over and over again. Just look for a Sen4 or tag and it shouldn’t be to far from there.

Our May cover artist, Kenny Scharf, was apparently arrested for what over the last 30 years he has become well-known for, spray painting. Apparently the artist was arrested in Bushwick, Brooklyn while painting one of his signature snakes and apparently as Art Sucks reports, while in custody cops were googling him and requesting autographs. "Cops who arrested me were fans and wanted to talk about exit through the gift shop and even liked the tag. At the first holding cell in Williamsburg (there were only 5 people in the cell) the police were googling me and asking about things like the tunnel nightclub." He continued on in saying “I was in there 30 years ago and im sorry to say…
