Cory Arcangel vs Pierre Bismuth @ Team Gallery, NYC

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, November 01, 2011
We are fans of Jux-featured artist, Cory Arcangel, and his reappropriation of media and popular culture. His new exhibition is of particular interest; Arcangel and French aritst Pierre Bismuth are collaborating in a presentation of Guy Debord’s 1973 film Société du Spectacle (Society of the Spectacle) with the instructional signal of a projector — “CHANGE BULB” — permanently blinking over the image track.

The Work of NYC's Sachin Teng

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, November 01, 2011
Sachin Teng is an artist living and working  in New York City. 'Though I'm an illustrator I think more like a designer. Art is a means of visual communication, a kind of aesthetic discourse. They can tell you whatever they want, to buy a new flavor of gum, to go to war, go to a concert, convert to a new religion or even to stop smoking...

Kim Keever @ David B Smith Gallery

Juxtapoz // Friday, October 28, 2011
We saw a lot of art here at the magazine each day, but occasionally you get stopped in your tracks, and Kim Keever's work just did that to us. Currently showing at David B Smith Gallery in Denver, Keever shoots large-scale photographs of incredibly detailed topographies in a 200-gallon tank, which is then filled with water.

Blending comic book art, Biggie Smalls lyrics, graffiti, Playboy centerfolds and more, Damon Johnson's urban surrealistic work distinctly reflects the manic energy of his native New York City. His new series of Sharpie-on-notebook drawings titled Left For Dead, as well as several of his large-scale acrylic and spray paint on canvas paintings . . .

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Josh Keyes opened a new solo show, Migration, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC this past weekend. We stopped by for the opening, because, as you know, they don't like to show you all the Keyes' pieces until opening night. A nice collection of works, including our favorite one here, is on display through November 19, 2011.

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 24, 2011
A few years ago, as we working to complete our 15th Anniversary show and benefit with Detroit in mind, we got word that Matthew Barney was working in Detroit on a special project. After Barney donated a piece of art to our show, we followed his progress and work that he was completing. Needless to say, the work was complex with a full narrative in mind...
