Just as we wrote about Ryan McGinness' show at Country Club LA coming this week, we note that NYC-based McGinness will also be opening a new show at the Standard, Hollywood, titled Women: The Blacklight Paintings. The paintings are based on figure drawings of over 65 models completed during sittings with the artist over the past year.

We just got a few bits of news from Saner, the Mexico City-based artist whose notiriety has continued to grow over the past few years, that he finished a nice mural in Mexico City, and that he is part of a group show in Spain opening this week.

Steve Powers taught us a lot at MOCA. Most of which we can't mention in digital print because of the kids. But what we can mention is that Steve "ESPO" Powers will have a solo exhibition, Days, at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark, opening Friday, May 6.

Camille Rose Garcia, who we last featured in our very special 100th issue, will be opening a new solo exhibition, "Snow White and the Black Lagoon" that opens in Los Angeles, California at the Michael Kohn Gallery on March 12, 2011. The show plays off of the classic Grimm Brothers’ story, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”, with this series of paintings and drawings creating a modern day allegory for our delusional relationship with nature . . .

The Winnipeg-born, Brooklyn-based, and prolific Marcel Dzama opens Behind Every Curtain at David Zwirner in New York City this Thursday (Feb 19). Dzama's drawings have garnered him praise for their attention to detail, but his evolution into video, sculpture, and other diorama art has made his shows must-see. More after the jump . . .

Add the fact that Ellis was the centerpiece of our December 2009 Barnstormers issue, and we consider him to be one of the leading contemporary artists that we have ever covered.
