Last weekend saw the Los Angeles return of Mexico City-based Saner with the exhibition Catharsis at New Image Art Gallery. Curated by Medvin Sobio of 33third Los Angeles/Mid-City Arts, Catharsis represents the final act in a cycle of solo exhibitions Saner has been developing, where each one has looked to generate an emotional change over the spectator, guiding the viewer towards a path of rebirth, freedom & purification.

This isn't the first time we have talked about the work of Suzannah Sinclair, and it won't be the last. With memories of classic 1970's erotica, done in watercolors and pencil, the work of the Maine-based fine artist feels nostalgic to a more subtle era of sexuality and nude work. No props, just beautiful subjects with classic rendering chops.

We have had our eye on both Augustus Thompson and Chris Lux over the past two years, and we were very happy to see both artists showing together at New Image Art Galley in Los Angeles opening tonight, Saturday, August 4, 2012. In this show, the artists celebrate their shared affinity for Modern art as the jumping off place for contemporary painting, sculpture, and constructions.

This past Friday the 13th, bad luck was celebrated at Neck Face’s Simply The Worst opening at New Image Gallery in Los Angeles, Calif. Art collectors, graffiti enthusiasts, and the elite of skateboarding showed up to support Neckface. The respect is mutual, as Neck Face says, "Those are my people, they know who I am and I know who they are. We all come from the gutter."

Seems quite appropriate for Friday the 13th. September 2011 cover artist, Neck Face, is opening a new print release show, Simply the Worst, at New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles. Costumes accepted, and free booze. And a message from Neck Face: "If I'm throwing it you know it's gonna be fun." Ah, it's one of those kind of parties... dig it.

New Image Art in Los Angeles is set to open a brand new exhibition this Saturday, June 2, The Goblin Universe, featuring the works of San Francisco-based Matt Furie and Austin, Texas based Michelle Devereux (her first show outside of Texas). We happen to like her new series, Dudes on Pizza. There will be a lot of colored pencil in this exhibition... a good thing.

Yesterday we attended the opening party and press preview of ArtPadSF at the Phoenix Hotel, a unique art fair situated around a pool with each gallery occupying a hotel room surrounding an open courtyard. Galleries such as New Image Art, Robert Berman, the Luggage Store, 111 Minna, Gregory Lind all had strong "rooms," showcasing a blend of both classics and up-and-coming talents.

We stopped by the Scope Art Fair yesterday evening in Miami to check out what White Walls, New Image Art, Corey Heford Gallery, Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Sloan Fine Art, and Kenton Parker's Taco Shop were looking like. Peter Gronquist's buck with guns at the White Walls booth was a showstopper.

September 2011 cover artist, Neck Face, will open an exhibition with Fuck This Life at New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles tonight, September 18. There is nothing like a Neck Face show on a Sunday night to get your week started. And we, Juxtapoz, are sponsors... even more reason to go.
