There is a great show open right now in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area called New Neon: Light, Paint, and Photography at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, featuring a roster of California and international artists that work in and around the medium of neon light and paint. Not only is our very own contributing writer Kristin Farr in the exhibition, but Juxtapoz favorites like Richard Colman, Kill Pixie, Patrick Martinez, Amir Fallah and otheres all made their way into the great show. It is open through February 23, 2014.

This past weekend we stopped by HVW8 Gallery for their latest exhibition “New Neons” by Alessandro Moroder and new outdoor murals by Erin Garcia. In New Neons, Moroder explores the idea of masculinity and memory through text, light and space. The attraction of working with neon came from a custom sign his father built in the 80’s and was then hung and lit in their apartment. Photos and more after the jump…

As part of the 2011 "Bring to Light" festival, Fanny Allie created the Glowing Homeless sculpture, and placed it on a bench in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. As Allie says of her work, "Many of my projects suggest the course of time as they examine memories, past actions or incidents, and events that happened at a specific and recorded time."

The first thing we need to note is that this installation and video of blenders, pounds of glowsticks, 700 glasses, and 200 meters of hoses was used to create an installation for Colombian company Bon Yurt to promote its "neon" line of yogurts. Does neon make you want to eat yogurt? This video may help.
