So we went to Coachella and forgot to post our photos like we were supposed to. Well, sue us. Without further ado... The Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival raged for two straight weekends this year in the California desert, taking on a different format but no less fantastic to experience. Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine made it to what was the GD outdoor sweat lodge of Weekend 2 amid blazing heats—the typical temps that bounced back from quite the opposite over Weekend 1.

We stopped by a packed house last night in NYC for the special opening of Shepard Fairey's Harmony & Discord exhibition at Pace Prints, featuring Shepard's first works in handmade paper, all created in the Pace Editions studios in New York. Mixed with the 26th Street Block Party and the Frieze Art Fair, it was a big turn out and some of our favorite Fairey work to date.

Of course, the Beastie Boys played a pivotal role in fronting a cultural fusion of hip-hop, skate, art, film, punk, and activism, and Yauch was at the forefront of socially conscious celebrity.

We are huge fans of all the art direction at hip-hop label, Stones Throw, and we are huge fans of all the musical identities of one super-producer, Madlib. Stones Throw and Madlib have just released a very special Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix box set, featuring a double LP with printed cover, MP3 download card, and, here is what we are excited about, a 12-page mini-comic.

David Marsh must like a good Pantone swatch, because in order to digitally recreate classic albums with Pantone swatches, he had to use over 1,369 solid color swatches for each reference to the Smiths, or Nirvana, or Roxy Music, or Pink Floyd. Marsh created a nice series of album covers that puts him in the Venn Diagram space where the two circles intersect between graphic design nerd and Matt Pinfield.

Sophie Gateau just directed this new music video for Last Days and their track, "River's Edge," which features two young men as they get turned into streamers. And various other visual effects are applied, by which you will say, "This is quite lovely." And then they dance with their keyboard x drum machines.
