Two things to be excited about: one, Dinosaur Jr. is coming out with a new album, I Bet On Sky, this September 18, and our friend, Travis Millard, did the album cover artwork. When we saw the artwork last week, we said to ourselves, that looks familiar. After exhaustive research, our suspicions were confirmed.

Former SF and Portland based artist, Chris Johanson, has again organized the Quiet Music Festival of Portland, a celebration of quiet music as well as the act of quiet listening. The two-day music event opens on Friday, June 15 and runs through Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Portland's local arts and cultural organization Disjecta.

This weekend in Portland, the puppet collective by the name of Nightshade will be teaming up with Brooklyn-based band, Japanther, for three days and five shows of collaborative performance. Thousands of elaborate hand drawn, hand cut pieces of paper will be projected with a flashlight, combined with the silhouetted band to create a low-tech psychedelic puppet-goth spectacle. Sounds pretty cool eh?

So we went to Coachella and forgot to post our photos like we were supposed to. Well, sue us. Without further ado... The Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival raged for two straight weekends this year in the California desert, taking on a different format but no less fantastic to experience. Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine made it to what was the GD outdoor sweat lodge of Weekend 2 amid blazing heats—the typical temps that bounced back from quite the opposite over Weekend 1.

We stopped by a packed house last night in NYC for the special opening of Shepard Fairey's Harmony & Discord exhibition at Pace Prints, featuring Shepard's first works in handmade paper, all created in the Pace Editions studios in New York. Mixed with the 26th Street Block Party and the Frieze Art Fair, it was a big turn out and some of our favorite Fairey work to date.
