Erotic Misfits by Ryan Florig

Juxtapoz // Monday, August 20, 2012
Some strategically placed cutouts and an iconic Misfits t-shirt are all you need in this photo by Ryan Florig. Florig meshes humor and sexuality in a shot that begs for one last caress. He is based in Austin, TX.

Jamie Reid for Pussy Riot

Music // Thursday, August 16, 2012
As you may know by now, Russian feminist punk group, Pussy Riot, made a brief "impromptu performance in Christ the Savior Cathedral in February. Dancing and high-kicking, they shouted the words of a 'punk prayer' asking the Virgin Mary to deliver Russia from Putin," (from AP) and were arrested on charges of hooliganism and religious hatred. Well, their jailing is getting international attention...

Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands 2012: The Sounds and the Bands That Made Them

Music // Wednesday, August 15, 2012
One of the great things about curating art at a music festival is, you guessed it, the bands, the photo pass, and that front row exposure. So, as Outside Lands was in full swing, we had our photographer Jordan Joseffer embed himself at a few stages to capture Foo Fighters, Big Boi, Die Antwoord, Franz Ferdinand, Jack White, Beck, and Thee Oh Sees.

Davy Evans for The xx

Music // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
As you may know, The xx are set to release a new album, Coexist, due out September 11, and as that date has been approaching, the trio is releasing some very abstract video treatments. Photographer Davy Evans is responsible for these psychedelic, petri dish type video works, and we are quite into it.

Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands 2012: Sights and Behind-the-Scenes

Music // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Another year, another great 3-day weekend in Golden Gate Park. Once again, Juxtapoz curated the art for the annual Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in San Francisco, and this year, we really took our time to take in the festival, the people, the artists we worked with, the atmosphere, and the incredible foggy nights. Here is what we saw...

S.O. Terik @ Lollapalooza 2012

Music // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Our good friends at S.O. Terik provided an extra dose of art at this year's Lollapalooza, creating the Perry’s Container with a powerful group of artists from Los Angeles. Known as the S.O.TERIK artists, the team traveled to Chicago to collaborate with the top talent in Chi-Town in an unbelievable collaboration art installation project combining 14 contrasting styles of art on one landmark.

Day 2: Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands 2012

Juxtapoz // Sunday, August 12, 2012
Day 2 of Juxtapoz at Outside Lands was another great one, with more great performances from Mike Shine, live painting from Skinner, Sam Flores, N8 Van Dyke, Curve, Diet, and, of course, music from Metallica, Sigur Ros, Grandaddy, Big Boi, The Kills, Portugal the Man, and Explosions in the Sky. Here are a few shots from our day...

Day 1: Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands

Juxtapoz // Saturday, August 11, 2012
As you know by now and from our Instagram, Juxtapoz is curating the art and spending the weekend at Outside Lands in San Francisco, and despite the freezing temps (glad we brought our hoodies to sell at the booth), we caught up with Dabs Myla, Mike Shine, Sam Flores, Guy Overfelt, Ricky Watts, and all sorts of Jux fans who stopped by our booth.

Starting Tomorrow: Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands 2012

Music // Thursday, August 09, 2012
With the same anticipation as last year when Juxtapoz curated the art for the annual Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in San Francisco, we are looking forward to the pack of kids who drive up from Arizona to see Metallica headline, wondering why it’s 49 degrees and foggy in August in California. For the 5th annual festival Juxtapoz is back at art curation duties, braving the schizophrenic weather with a wide assortment of live painting, murals, installations, and interactive art from some of our favorite international artists.

Sigur Rós Mystery Film Experiment: "Varúð" by Ryan McGinley

Music // Thursday, August 02, 2012
Nothing gets you feeling serene more than a girl barefoot skipping through Manhattan with sunshine golden hair while Sigur Ros' beautiful music is playing and Ryan McGinley providing the visuals. We think that pretty much covers it. From the looks of it, this is part of Sigur Ros Mystery Film Experiment, and it may be the most epic 8 minutes you spend today.
