This past weekend, we checked out the book/10" collaborative project between artist Ashley Macomber and musician/actor/artist Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Afternoon, and found a lot of the paintings by Macomber included in the book/10" to fantastic. The artist is part of a new show, Wild Thing, opening at See Line Gallery in West Hollywood on September 19. See the show, get the book.

For the good part of the past decade, Los Angeles-based hip-hop, electronica, jazz, "no label is a good label" musician Flying Lotus has been firing on all cylinders. Now, just as his new LP, Until the Quiet Comes is about to be released, Flying Lotus is getting involved in short films, with this dreamlike, violent, cerebral short directed by Kahlil Joseph getting the album a visual context.

Being released today, September 6, Shepard Fairey and Obey are releasing the Americana Box Set, featuring the album of the same name by Neil Young & Crazy Horse. The work in the box set initially made its debut at Perry Rubenstein Gallery. The Box Set includes 12 signed & numbered screen prints of the Americana Paintings (Edition of 450), 1 signed & numbered Americana song lyric screen print (Edition of 200), a certificate of authenticity, and a CD of the Americana album by Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

May 2012 cover artist, El Mac, just completed a nice assignment/project for No Doubt; the album cover of their newest LP, Push and Shove, due in stores on September 18, 2012. Mac painted four acyrlic on wood panels of each band member, and each panel makes the whole of the cover.

Any daily New York cyclist will tell you there are a serious lack of bike racks in all the boroughs. Everyone’s lugging these massive chains around so they can lock their bikes to something not intended for locking, trees work well. Any new bike racks mean a win for cyclists, whether Talking Heads lead singer, David Byrne, designed them or not, in this case he did.

We speak for a lot of people in the arts that we were excited to get an advanced copy of Efterklang's newest LP, Piramida, and even more excited to see that a new video has been released for the opening track, Hollow Mountain. We have mentioned this on the site before, Efterklang is very smart with their visual arts applied to music formula.

Still processing what we just saw, but we are glad that we just ate up 10 minutes in a full arthouse, noise rock experience by Jim Jarmusch and Jozef Van Wissem, directed by Diego Barrera. The film is described as referencing "mythology, the elements, and symbolism." Like almost everything.
