Cub of the Woods is a self-proclaimed 'metalhead, punk rocker and art hag' currently residing in Vancouver, B.C. Her detail-oriented black and white drawings are dark and seductive, full of shrieking skulls and babes straight out of your 1980s hair metal dreams.

Wow. We don't know why we became so transfixed with this video, how we couldn't dare take our eyes off of it, but Emily Kai Bock's Nightlife video for musician Sebastien Schuller is one of the better ones we have seen all year. You don't need a big budget, some grand arching storyline, just an expert idea of light and mood. Somehow, we are either excited about our trip to Miami in two weeks, or terrified. Stunning simplicity at work.

One of the best albums of 2013 has to be Tame Impala's Lonerism, a mix of psychedelic, experimental pop that has been playing in this writer's house for weeks now. The video for one of the album's best tracks, "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards," is exactly what it sounds like: a psychedelic collage of beautiful colors.

There is a little bit of everything in the works of Rich Kelly. You have music posters, movie posters, television program illustrations, and straight gallery works all from one hand (or two hands). Kelly has made work for Bonnie Prince Billy, Breaking Bad, Planet of the Apes, R Kelly, The Tallest Man on Earth, and other musicians and entertainers. He is trying not to break things.

We have written on the site before about how big of fans we are of the drawings of Moonassi, aka Daehyun Kim, and we ran across the new album cover the artist created for the band Reedbeds and their album Basement Grotto. Done in conjunction with the label, SicSic, we love the simple elegance of a ink of paper drawing. You have to check the details after the jump . . .

The metal-faced rapper, MF. Doom, widely known for his innovative wordplay and mellow rap flow, made a decision that after a 10 year-retirement from the cans, he would rock some colorful Doom throwups on bricked London wall. Watch as the MC talks about his experience with graffiti and understanding the brain.

Yesterday we caught up with curator Aaron Rose and talked about his new video for MOCAtv, a project, which focuses on the late New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Made in collaboration with Los Angeles based musician Sam Spiegel (AKA DJ Squeak E Clean, one half of DJ duo N.A.S.A.), Aaron and Sam decided they would not pay direct homage to Basquiat and his work.

Alaska is stereotypically known more for its moose, its weather, and its Vice Presidential candidates than for its music or its art. But if you take one look at John Gourley's art, or hear one song from John Gourley's incredible band Portugal. The Man, you'll most likely want to migrate up north into the ice in hopes of absorbing some of the unbridled inspiration that John has that makes his work so original, unique, and (much like the Alaskan weather), refreshing.
