Well, these are a ton of fun. Josh, we will just call him Josh, of the band Old Monk Song creates these fantastic animated gifs of historical and fun moments in music history, including wonderful live performances, pivotal cultural icons, indie giants, and just plain cool music videos. Our favorite could be the Tupac gif... in prison, getting married, #1 hit? Legend.

Wow, this was an amazing video. Just when you think you know what is going on, just when you make your assumptions about the characters, and just when you thought you saw every single version of the falling backward video, director Ellis Bahl created a mini-drama of darkness and horror for British band Alt-J's outstanding track, "Breezeblocks." Just when your stomach begins to turn, the story takes an even more sinister mood.

When we have been looking back at the music videos we loved in 2012, there is a part of us that consider the artist and track. Earl Sweatshirt had a huge year in our office, whether in collaboration with Flying Lotus, or on the fantastic track, "Chum". Video director Hiro Murai takes the haunting track and makes a simple, beautiful black and white treatment.

On the topic of double exposures, we turn to one of our favorite music videos of 2012, a gem directed by Greg Hunt for musician Duane Pitre and the track, Feel Free. As Hunt says of the video, all shots were double exposed entirely in-camera on super-16mm. The music in this video is a collage-edit comprised of audio taken from the 38-minute studio recording of Pitre's Feel Free composition, from the album of the same name.

We are going back through our year of favorite, artistic music videos, and we were huge fans of Juxtapoz friends Jay Howell and Jim Dirschberger's animated, art directed, and illustrated music video for Trash Talk band and the the track, "Slander." After seeing Trash Talk perform over the years through our brothers at Thrasher, we suggest listening LOUD. Enjoy after the jump . . .

Icelandic band, Sigur Rós, have always created music on their own terms with an original sound, production, and visual identity. Over the past year, they have been releasing music videos with renowned filmmakers as part of the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment. Ryan McGinley's film happens to be one of our favorites of the year. To conclude the series, we have the Elle Fanning-starring video by Floria Sigismondi for the track, Leaning Towards Solace. Enjoy.

Hollywood Dooom is a captivating collaborative artwork by Stanley Donwood and INSA that XL Recordscommissioned to celebrate the launch of Atoms For Peace's debut album, AMOK. Longtime Radiohead and Thom Yorke collaborator, Donwood, created the artwork for the Atoms For Peace album, a scene of armageddon in modern Los Angeles. This was interpreted by INSA as a piece of his patented GIF-ITI. INSA painted the Atoms For Peace artwork on to the XL office in Los Angeles a number of times, each a different frame of animation, to create a real life GIF.

Normally, an Elijah Wood starring video would not make it on our radar, but when it comes in the starring role of an awesomely bizarro music video for Flying Lotus "Tiny Tortures" (off of the sublime FlyLo 2012 album Until The Quiet Comes), we are all ears and eyes. Is it a dream? Where did that hand go? Only director David Lewandowski knows. Watch...
