Juxtapoz // Friday, September 07, 2012
For the good part of the past decade, Los Angeles-based hip-hop, electronica, jazz, "no label is a good label" musician Flying Lotus has been firing on all cylinders. Now, just as his new LP, Until the Quiet Comes is about to be released, Flying Lotus is getting involved in short films, with this dreamlike, violent, cerebral short directed by Kahlil Joseph getting the album a visual context.

Music Video: JJ Doom "Guv'nor"

Music // Friday, August 24, 2012
We wanted to have an optical illusion thrown in our face this morning, and who better than one of the most innovative, and visually stimulating hip-hop artists we can think of, MF Doom. In his new collaboration with Jneiro Jarel, Doom is now JJ Doom, and the track is "Guv'nor," and the video will split you up. Watch...

New: Efterklang "Hollow Mountain" Music Video

Music // Friday, August 24, 2012
We speak for a lot of people in the arts that we were excited to get an advanced copy of Efterklang's newest LP, Piramida, and even more excited to see that a new video has been released for the opening track, Hollow Mountain. We have mentioned this on the site before, Efterklang is very smart with their visual arts applied to music formula.

Jim Jarmusch & Jozef Van Wissem: The Sun of the Natural World is Pure Fire

Music // Tuesday, August 21, 2012
Still processing what we just saw, but we are glad that we just ate up 10 minutes in a full arthouse, noise rock experience by Jim Jarmusch and Jozef Van Wissem, directed by Diego Barrera. The film is described as referencing "mythology, the elements, and symbolism." Like almost everything.

Sigur Rós Mystery Film Experiment: "Varúð" by Ryan McGinley

Music // Thursday, August 02, 2012
Nothing gets you feeling serene more than a girl barefoot skipping through Manhattan with sunshine golden hair while Sigur Ros' beautiful music is playing and Ryan McGinley providing the visuals. We think that pretty much covers it. From the looks of it, this is part of Sigur Ros Mystery Film Experiment, and it may be the most epic 8 minutes you spend today.

Music Video: Liars "Brats" by Ian Cheng

Music // Tuesday, July 31, 2012
As we have stated on this site time and time again, the state of music videos, since the advent of this thing called the Internet, is in a quite strong place. Enter this fantastic new video by Ian Cheng for the band Liars (whose new album, WIXIW, is really quite good) and their new single, "Brats." An Elmer Fudd character, a Donnie Darko killer bunny rabbit, and an intense thunder dance beat make this a good wake-up call for your afternoon.

The History of the World, Made with Paper and Fabric

Music // Thursday, July 26, 2012
Kevin Parry has taken on the daunting task of teaching us all about the History of the World, only he has decided it would be best to make an animation and make that animation out of paper and fabric. The animation is the basis for the music video of Kalle Mattson's "Thick As Thieves." When we get to the Jetsons-style future, that is when we are getting excited.

Music // Friday, July 20, 2012
Sound Shapes is a title we wrote a little about after previewing it at E3 this year. It's a unique title taking two artist from to different genres (music and visual art) and pairing them together to create levels for the user to traverse. They just released a video showcasing one of these pairs, visual artists Pyramid Attack and musician, Beck.

RIP: Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys

Music // Friday, May 04, 2012
We felt we would be doing a disservice today if we didn't mention the immeasurable loss of Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch, who died today at the age of 47 after a long battle with cancer. Of course, the Beastie Boys played a pivotal role in fronting a cultural fusion of hip-hop, skate, art, film, punk, and activism, and Yauch was at the forefront of socially conscious celebrity.
