Consisting of an eclectic roster of artists from various regions of Europe and beyond, The Weird, regularly organizes a majority of their members to collaborate on humorously themed productions.  Their newest effort is a play on Walt Disney, featuring numerous renditions of popular icons such as Daffy Duck, Whiney The Pooh, Goofy, Bambi, and more.

Massive roof spiders by Marlin Peterson

Now more than ever you have an excuse to do something touristy like visiting the Seattle Space Needle. Your reason being, so you can catch a view of Marlin Peterson’s newest spider mural located on roof in close proximity. The mural was commissioned by the Washington State Parks commission and painted on the roof the Seattle State Armory.

Phlegm in Turin, Italy

Sheffield-based muralist and illustrator, Phlegm, has a way with finding and creating work on unpainted surfaces aka virgin spots.  His newest work painted on a brick surface is series of pod-like faces holding his signature characters. This mural was painted in conjunction with the Bunker Festival in Turin, Italy.

The uplifting, lighthearted, kid friendly street work of Bue has been absent in cheering up our day the last couple months. We were glad to see this new collaborative mural with Paris-based artist, Resto pop up. Their two distinctly different styles oddly complement each other nicely.

Shepard Fairey Sentenced in Obama 'Hope' case

In 2008, Shepard Fairey’s “Hope” poster for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign became a symbol of inspiration and optimism. Yesterday, four years later in New York, Fairey received a sentence of two years probation and a $25,000 fine in federal court for his the same poster. Fairey had initially sued The Associated Press after they accused the artist of copyright infringement, claiming one of their photographs was used in creating the poster.

Os Gemeos x ARYZ: Completed Mural in Poland

Last week we posted photos of Aryz and Os Gemeos beginning a collaborative mural in Lodz, Poland for the Urban Forms Festival. This was the first time the three artists had worked on a wall together. While they have all spent a significant amount of time painting large walls on lifts around the world, expecting something magnificent was really not far fetched.

On occasion, C215 who is known for small meticulous stencils will super size his work into an actual wall sized mural. His most recent project in Vitry, France is exactly that, a large dismal portrait of a girl, surrounded by vibrant abstract shapes.
