Since the 18th century in South America, an annual religious procession is held on October 28 in honor of The Lord of the Miracles. A slave originally painted a black Christ on the walls of a hut at the Pachacamilla plantation, near Lima. Despite several attempts to obliterate the painting and even a massive quake in 1746 that brought everything down around it, the piece still stayed intact.

Kofie in Turin, Italy

Los Angeles-based draftsman, Kofie, recently completed this exceptionally large mural entitled "Futurino" for the Picturin Torino Festival in Turin, Italy. Kofie’s strong line work and geometrical shapes blends naturally into the architectural landscape. Definitely one of the biggest mural we have seen him paint yet.

Video: ROA's Plane for the Boneyard Project

Earlier this year, Juxtapoz took a trip to Tucson, Arizona to document a number of international artists painting massive disused Military airplanes and cockpits for a project entitled The Boneyard Project. A variation of eclectic styles adorned each piece of aviation and an opening reception displaying the planes was held at the Pima Art and Space Museum. ROA’s plane was painted alone much after all the events and everyone had left, surely a tranquil desert experience for the artist.  

Barbara Kruger buses in Los Angeles for "Art Matters"

The LA Fund and LAUSD have launched a public art project, “Art Matters,” in attempt to support funding for arts education in the Los Angeles school systems. Barbara Kruger, the conceptual/pop artist known for using black and white images overlaid with bold captions is working on the project.

New Shida murals in Brisbane, Australia

Australia-based street artist, Shida, has been busy, producing three new detailed walls in the streets of Brisbane. Unearthly and often abstract creatures hide amongst the natural shapes created by the artist.

DXTR and CONE both members of the mural collective, The Weird, recently collaborative on a mural project for the Hamilius Urban Art project in Luxemburg. The mural shows a range of animated characters from both artists, all attempting to heist a glass encased eclair.

LOS MURALS HABLAN FESTIVAL UPDATE

Los Murals Hablan translated in English to The Talking Walls, is in full swing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The mural festival started on October 4, 2012 has brought international street artists Sego, Aryz, Jaz, Roa, Ever, Neuzz, and a hoard of local artists together to decorate local walls. Here are photos of some of the progress that has been made, including finished pieces from Roa and Jaz, with Aryz’s close to the finish line.

New Phlegm mural in Doncaster, UK

Sheffield, UK-based illustrator and muralist, Phlegm, painted a massive trumpet with one his characters perched on the edge shooting arrows.  Balloon tied skulls and bones are seen floating on the wall, with a pile remains on the floor. This new mural was painted in Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Jade: "El Gigante"

Peruvian muralist, Jade, recently completed this piece with one of his signature characters looking through a lines of flags. Jade spoke on this particular piece saying that the local children embraced the mural the most, giving it their own name of “El Gigante” or in English “The Giant.”
