Steve Powers' "Visual Blues" @ Alice Gallery in Brussels

Street Art // Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Steve Powers aka "Espo" just opened a new solo show on May 18, 2013, entitled “Visual Blues” at Alice Gallery in Brussels. In Powers’s own words, “I’m in awe of the power and the reach of music. To compete with the majesty of music, I make paintings that are visual blues. I distill my everyday experience into paintings I call Daily Metaltations. They are painted very fast, fresh from the epiphanies that inspired them. The larger paintings draw from those metaltations and go to a deeper understanding of the transactions we make everyday to live our lives.”

Hyuro "In/Between” @ ArtRebels, Copenhagen

Street Art // Monday, May 20, 2013
One of our favorite street artists, Valencia, Spain-based Hyuro, has completed a mural in Copenhagen, Denmark in conjunction with her solo show at ArtRebels from May 24th through June 15, 2013. In/Between will feature 17 original drawings highlighting Hyuro's interest in human interiority and the female body, often in relation to animals and natural elements. The exhibition is a subtle reflection on identity and freedom, both individually and collective. The items exhibited are all paper drawings of artworks that Hyuro has created as street pieces all over the world. All photography and information from our friend, Henrik Haven.
