"Higher Planes" @ The Tate Gallery, Sydney

Street Art // Monday, August 19, 2013
This Wednesday, August 21st “Higher Planes” will open featuring new paintings and sculptures by Shida at The Tate Gallery in Sydney, Australia. “Arabesque figures coil amidst deciduous branches, as fluid, mountainous panoramas reflect Shida's painterly dynamism. Through Higher Planes, Shida continues to experiment with visual space and landscape painting. Contrasting his traditionally fluorescent palette with phthalo blues, Shida uses layered brushstrokes to create shuffling, otherworldly scenes.”

Living Walls 2013 - Part 3

Street Art // Friday, August 16, 2013
The sun now completely covered by grey clouds has given us some much desired cool down time on our third day here in Atlanta for the Living Walls Conference. After last nights block party in the Edgewood neighborhood where a large crowd congregated in front of Roti’s wall for a hazy late night of celebration in the streets, we wouldn’t be surprised if everyone had a more sluggish start than usual today.

Nychos x Dxtr in Denmark

Street Art // Friday, August 16, 2013
Nychos who has been on a world spray tour as of recent (He apparently doesn’t sleep for how many walls he’s been cranking out) is now in Copenhagen, Denmark participating in the Galore Festival. With his crewmate, DXTR, the two painted an epic sliced and diced animal that has a cool mint blue colored skin.

Roa paints decomposing coyote in Brooklyn

Street Art // Friday, August 16, 2013
After we just saw Roa in Rochester, NY for Wall Therapy, he is now in Brooklyn where he just finished painting a decomposing coyote on the side of Pandemic Gallery. No stranger to making use of awkward spaces, Roa made great use here by going above the door and made the animals tail extend on to the rolldown.

LIVING WALLS 2013 - Part 2

Street Art // Thursday, August 15, 2013
On our second day in Atlanta for the Living Walls Conference, we walked out of our hotel straight into the beautiful Piedmont Park, which is as pristine and well-manicured a public park can get. From there we caught up with some more wall action, first checking out Agostino Lacurci’s vibrant painting of a character sitting in a chair accompanied by four masked dogs. Then we saw Jaz’s first mural painted for the conference: a stunning piece involving bulls around a fire in the woods, creating a serene but dark overall ambiance.

Working on a series of murals based on the color red in Salamanca, Spain, Pablo S. Herrero just completed his third and fourth paintings of the project. Both pieces incorporate the silhouettes of tree branches in a very simplistic approach using only red and black.

Living Walls 2013 - Part 1

Street Art // Wednesday, August 14, 2013
On our first day in Atlanta aka The ATL, Hotlanta or A-Town, we toured around to some of the walls checking out the muralists as they endure the summer heat and lay some paint down. First we got to view some walls by famed-photographer, JR that had been done the week prior before the conference kicked off. After that we caught up with 3ttman as he worked on a massive wall packed full of playful and vibrant colored imagery. Then we saw walls from Inti, Jaz, Know Hope and Roti in collaboration with Jaz. Our night ended at a” mansion party” and in true southern style, it had the largest porch we have had the opportunity to loiter on! Check back tomorrow for more updates!
