Liqen's New Work in Okinawa, Japan

Spanish muralist, Liqen, who was featured in our printed April 2012 issue, traveled to Okinawa, Japan last month leaving traces of his handy work around the island. One mural done with a roller depicts a tiny atomic cloud in the palm of a hand and in another part of Okinawa faces were painted on a collection of cinder blocks.

Nychos in Brooklyn

Is that an Iron Maiden shirt Nychos is wearing there?  We can see how his work is influenced by Derek Riggs who created all the epic covers for the English heavy metal band.  This new skull-splitting piece is on a roof in Brooklyn and will surely take someone off guard, if not give them nightmares.

New Murals from AEC of Interesni Kazki in Cholula, Mexico

AEC who makes up half of the Ukrainian mural duo, Interesni Kazki, painted multiple murals while visiting Cholula, Mexico. The artist also teamed up with Mexico City-based muralist, Saner, for a joint collaboration.  These particular pieces look that much better and add a lot of life to the old dilapidated walls.

M-City paints the exterior of Józef Mehoffer’s house

M-city was recently in Krakow, Poland for the ArtBooom Festival where he painted a mural on the side of famed Polish artist, Józef Mehoffer’s house, which now serves as a museum.  The interior of the building houses antique furniture, chandeliers, wall hangings, clocks, books, and other works of art, including numerous works by the artist including stained-glass items, oils, decorative portraits, drawings, and many other items.

WK INTERACT X TBWA

Street artist and muralist WK Interact was just recruited by the renowned advertising agency TBWA to help celebrate their 40th anniversary. Simply dubbed FORTY WK Interact was invited to create one of his murals on an 8ft x 36ft canvas utilizing some of TWBA most iconic work, including the Absolute Vodka campaign, Apple's 1984 Super Bowl spot, Nelson Mandela’s first ANC election and more.

In Williamsburg, Brooklyn where the streets are plagued with amateur “street art” and everybody has their own stencil, it’s nice to see a decent mural  op up once in a while.  This large hand with nicely painted nails was done by local artists, Ben Wolf and Heidi Tullman, and can be seen between the intersections of Wythe and Berry on South 6th.  Follow the finger!

Escif’s newest mural is the image of the massive Costa Concordia cruise ship that capsized after hitting a reef off the Tuscan island of Giglio four months ago.  The piece titled "Angolo Di Riflessione" was painted in the small town of Gaeta, Italy for the Memorie Urbane Festival.

This is the eye-catchingresult of what happens when you get Dulk, Nicolas Barrome, and Low Bros together for the Eurocultured Street Festival in Manchester, England.   The whale with multiple eyes and patterns on his body is looking pretty sweet!
