We spent the entire day yesterday at Outside Lands, watching all the artists come in and prepare their installations for the weekend music festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. We had one reporter embedded all day with Monica Canilao and her team as they began transforming the woods into a full interactive installation.

This year, the now annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, have asked Juxtapoz to curate and present the visual art for this year's festival. So we gathered a team of artists, including Mike Shine, Monica Canilao, Nicholas Kuszyk, Tiffany Bozic and others to contribute installations and works for weekend event.

We just showed you earlier this week Monica Canilao's return to Detroit to work on her house she purchased at the Juxtapoz x Power House Productions project, and now we have images from her solo show at Sky High Gallery in Milwaukee, "What's Lost Is Safe."

Monica Canilao has returned to the Detroit neighborhood where Juxtapoz teamed with Power House Productions to reimagine and develop a neighborhood through the art community. As you may remember, this past Fall we invited Monica, Swoon, Retna, Richard Colman, Saelee Oh, and Ben Wolf to Detroit to start the program.

The independent music and art festival Noise Pop has kicked off in San Francisco, and this weekend they are hosting Culture Club, "bringing together creative individuals from the community and beyond to participate in a series of exciting presentations on independent culture in its many forms." One of the artists we feel is making a great impact on the international art scene is Spanish artist Escif, and we present his work as the cover of our February 2011 Newsstand and Subscriber issues. This past Fall, as we have documented in full, we saw 6 artists off to Detroit to work with Powerhouse Productions as part of our 15th Anniversary Benefit and Auction project. Swoon, Ben Wolf, Monica Canilao, RETNA, Richard Colman, and Saelee Oh all created unique pieces of art in the neighborhood where the money we raised was able to buy property.
