There was only one Duardo, and with such dash and panache, he was recognized by that one moniker. Known from coast to coast, from sun-up to sundown, Richard Duardo lived to celebrate art and those who make and inspire art. He was certainly at home at the galleries where I'd hear him revel in conversation, but his heart was in the streets and neighborhoods that guided his Chicano pride and call for justice and dignity.

If we were to suggest a holiday gift, we suggest prints. Always a good touch, and the collectible value is better than say, a new pair of socks (although, Mom, we need some socks, too). Los Angeles-based print studio, Modern Multiples and Known Gallery are teaming up for a one-week pop-up show starting this Saturday, December 17.

Juxtapoz friends Estevan Oriol, his father Eriberto Oriol, and Modern Multiples' Richard Duardo all make appearences in this video of the Oriol's creating screenprints. Eriberto also discusses a lot of the stories and inspirations behind some of the prints, including a story about Los Angeles railyards.

We just spent some time with Sage Vaughn down in Los Angeles, with video footage to follow in the coming weeks, but he told us about three (3) new prints he just released through LA's Modern Multiples. Each print is hand-painted and hand-separated by Mr. Vaughn, a nice addition to already limited-quantity releases. More views after the jump . . .
