Geoff McFetridge, an artist who has done fantastic projects recently with Heath Ceramics and Bushmills, just completed a new mural piece at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. As the Walker notes, "In conjunction with his talk for the 2013 Insights Design Lecture Series, the Walker commissioned McFetridge to create artwork to cover construction fencing during the Walker’s rebricking project."

Greg Gossel, a former featured artist and someone we have been lucky to see show in our homebase of San Francisco quite a few times, is opening a new exhibition, Weathering the Storm, at the Soo Visual Arts Center in Minneapolis this Saturday, July 28. The show will feature 13 new large-scale works on paper and canvas, built upon a collection of scraps torn off old billboards and street advertisements in Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York.

This is a must-see if you are in the Minnesot area. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is currently showing Edo Pop: The Graphic Impact of Japanese Prints. The exhibition features works, collectively known as ukiyo-e, or “pictures of the floating world,” produced during Japan’s Edo period (1600–1868). The exhibition also features contemporary works from artists inspired by the period, including Juxtapoz alumnist, Gajin Fujita.
