This Saturday, March 24. Copro Gallery in Santa Monica will be opening our 18th Birthday exhibition, Juxtapoz Turns 18. This week, we will be doing teasing previews of the entire exhibition, and today we have works from Robert Williams, Shag, Cathie Bleck, Dennis McNett, Eriberto Oriol, Candice Tripp, Brian Bowen Smith, and Mike Shine.

We showed you Colin M Day's video of Juxtapoz' curated artists at this years Outside Lands festival in San Francisco, and today we have the behind-the-scenes video of Mike Shine's "Flotsam's Wonder World" team and the Life of a Carnie. Its a lot more work than you would think.

This past Summer, Juxtapoz curated the art portion of the San Francisco 3-day music festival, Outside Lands. Mike Shine was one of the centerpieces of our curation, as he brought his Flotsam's carnival to life on the festival grounds in Golden Gate Park. Last weekend, Juxtapoz celebrated the annual San Francisco Outside Lands Festival and curated the art portion of the event. Mike Shine, Monica Canilao, Skinner, Jeremy Fish, Tifffany Bozic, Mike Giant, and others all created work for the event, with Shine and Canilao building full, immersive installations and performance pieces. Day 3 at Outside Lands, where Juxtapoz was the official art curator this year, was pretty heavy on the crowds, as Arcade Fire, Beirut, and the Decemberists drew heavy audiences. We got a chance to go around and see Mike Shine, Monica Canilao, and Nick Kuszyk's work throughout the fair...

We are heading off for the weekend of music and art at Outside Lands in San Francisco (we curated the art portion) because we need to get to Erykah Badu's set. This year, the now annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, have asked Juxtapoz to curate and present the visual art for this year's festival. So we gathered a team of artists, including Mike Shine, Monica Canilao, Nicholas Kuszyk, Tiffany Bozic and others to contribute installations and works for weekend event.

Juxtapoz friend and installation artist, Mike Shine, opens a new solo show at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica tonight (Saturday, April 16), with the interesting title, Der Wilden Mann: Thus Sprach Flotsam; Metamorphosis 3. Try and say that three times in a row. Der Wilden Mann references “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”, Frederich Neitzsche’s philosophical tome on morality and pedagogy. More after the jump . . .
