Mike Giant and the Skullz Press premiered three new zines, had a slammin' party, and exhibited a bunch of new posters at the Hydrilla event space in S.F. this past Saturday night. The three zines out now are The Americana Tattoo Flash Collections: Volume One, Buddhist Basics, and GoatHedz Zine #2.

We just walked by a Giant One piece in our neighborhood this morning, so seeing this stop-motion video on Mike Giant painting on Haight Street in 2011 seemed like a nice start to our Friday morning. The video was made by Sean Desmond, and Giant talks about his history in graffiti and his current inspirations.

Mike Giant, an influential graffiti artist, tattoo artist, and clothing designer, wields his medium of choice, the sharpie, with such dexterity and swagger that an entire line of Sharpie markers carry his name. Giant has retired from tattooing to focus full-time on his art, his globe-trotting adventures, and REBEL8, a clothing line he helped establish in 2003.

Working Class Premiere at MoPA, San Diego

On September 8th, Working Class, a documentary by Jeffery Durkin investigating the lives of Mike Maxwell and Mike Giant, will premiere at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park, San Diego. The film is loosely inspired by Charles Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities.

Yet another example of how the Internet can disappoint.  Mike Giant has paid his dues and been in the game for more than a few seasons, that’s pointing out the obvious.  So I was taken off guard when Mike posted this video discussing a topic that does not deserved to be publicized and giving it more unneeded attention.
