Michael Reedy has created a beautifully grotesque series of anatomical figure drawings. His ability to use and omit color when needed shows his refined intuition for composure. Michael is technically schooled in anatomy and has been able to artistically render images we would normally see in a science textbook.

Michael Reedy's desire to extend beyond historical modes of representation has led him to be increasingly interested in "depictions of the body that fall outside the canon of art history, namely in cartooning and medial illustration."

Michael Reedy, based in where we assume to be Illinois, has been created a few series of paintings and drawings using anatomy as the main concern. His subjects are both men and women, with almost a comic influence with some of his newer works.

There's something about Michael Reedy's illustrations that trace the fragile decorative nature of blue and white wares porcelain, the cobalt oxide in his palette, their symmetrical nature... anatomical aggressiveness that hint sepia-toned scenes from a modern Sistine Chapel, like depictions of creation. Elements of collage and this collection of traditional, almost religious imagery feels ceaseless and eternal, or maybe he just knows what he's doing.
