Well, its been awhile, and after some delays and about 3.5 years of waiting, Mark Ryden is set to open a new exhibition, "The Gay 90's: West" at Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles on May 3, 2014. Mostly we want you to schedule a visit to see the show because a) we have seen some behind the scenes looks at the show and can say its worth your damn time, and 2) Michael Kohn is opening a brand spanking new space that is glorious and spacious and worthy of a visit. And yes we just went a)-2) on you.

We recently stopped by Michael Kohn Projects inaugural exhibition a collection of recent paintings by artist Marion Peck. This special project space, which is located within blocks of the Michael Kohn Gallery, features eleven new works that highlight the artist’s talent for meticulously painted narrative imagery. This particular body of work explores solitary animal figures placed in various situations and often anthropomorphized to reflect human emotion and mental states. Photos and more after the jump…

Next Saturday, March 30, Marion Peck will open a new body of work, Animals, at Michael Kohn Projects in Los Angeles. The show will be held at Kohn's new space at 7270 Beverly Blvd, and we can't wait to see what Peck will be showing in her new body of work. We can prophesize that yes, there will be animals in there somewhere.

This past weekend we stopped by the opening reception for Retna’s latest solo exhibition at Michael Kohn Gallery. The former Juxtapoz cover artist transformed the interior and exterior spaces with his complex system of multi-layered lettering in an installation of murals and paintings. Photos and more after the jump…

"All the best art is past, present, and future combined, and this is what Retna is doing." So said MOCA director Jeffrey Deitch in his introduction to lead off our September 2010 cover story with LA-based Retna. Now the artist is set to open a body of new paintings and new works on paper at Michael Kohn Gallery in LA on September 15, 2012.

Camille Rose Garcia opens a new solo exhibition, "Snow White and the Black Lagoon" in Los Angeles, California at the Michael Kohn Gallery ths Saturday (March 12), and she sent us a video of her painting for the new show. As we wrote earlier, the "show plays off of the classic Grimm Brothers’ story, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”, with this series of paintings and drawings creating a modern day allegory for our delusional relationship with nature." Video after the jump . . .
