Prada in Marfa, Texas

Street Art // Friday, May 06, 2011
In 2005, artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset constructed a fake Prada Store in the remote countryside of Marfa, Texas.  Stocked with shoes and bags they threw an opening party with the intention of creating a surreal experience for the attendees. The adobe structure was meant to be a hyper-realistic sculpture of a luxury store.  Three days after the project was completed people tagged the building, and broke in stealing handbags and shoes.
