Art Basel Miami 2014

We are continuing to make the rounds to all the fairs this year in Miami. Yesterday we hit up the main Art Basel Miami fair and said hi to our friends at the Pace Prints booth and and wandered up and down the rows and rows of booths lined with an endless amount of art. We spotted great work from Eddie Martinez, Joyce Pensato, an awesome wall by Ed Templeton, some beautiful David Hockneys, and of course classic Warhols and Harings...

Yesterday, we showed you the two amazing projects we have at Scope Miami Beach: Cleon Petereson's "Paint the Town" sculptures and Grotesk's "Juxtapoz Newsstand." Today, we take a look at the booths and galleries associated with the Juxtapoz Presents x Scope programming, as well as some highlights from around the fair. Paint the Town by Cleon Peterson @ SCOPE Miami 2014

In the entryway of SCOPE Miami Beach 2014, Juxtapoz invited Los Angeles-based fine artist Cleon Peterson to create sculptures based on his latest print release, Paint the Town. Working in conjunction with Pretty In Plastic, Peterson designed 8-foot tall, 3D reinterpretations of his menacing, dancing works. For SCOPE Miami Beach 2014, we brought the icon to life, with Grotesk and his team constructing a full-scale, operating model of the illustration to serve as the headquarters for Juxtapoz during South Beach festivities all week.

Kuhl and Leyton's Tape Paintings of "Elite Deviance"

Using colored tape as their medium, for their latest project Elite Deviance Brad Kuhl and Monique Leyton explored disgraced millionaires and the super-rich of the United States. Depictions of Martha Stewart and Bernie Madoff act as social commentaries and critiques of capitalism in a colorful array of acrylic and bookbinding tape.

Miami Bayfront Park Proposal, "The Miami Sun"

One entry into the competition for designing a new Miami bayfront park, submitted by VisionDivision, is meant to symbolize the good life experienced in beach side Florida. "The grid shell exterior is clad in glass that mimics the sun at daytime, its skin reflecting light and gradually shifting its colors during the day, creating spectacular sunrises and blazing sunsets for the park, while at night time it transforms into a half moon." We're into it. The future is here.

As we continue to see a number of walls pop up from the recent art related events in Miami, we love this brightly colored letter soup from the New York-based artist and graffiti writer.
